Cleary fears season more in danger than ever

08:37 AM ET 12.07 | Thursday's somewhat odd scene left the NHL season hanging in the balance. Minutes after Players Association executive director Don Fehr spun a picture so bright it seemed a new collective bargaining agreement was near, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman tore that scenario thoroughly to pieces. That's left Wings forward and player representative Danny Cleary worried the 2012-13 season may be lost. "Am I afraid for season being in jeopardy? Yes," he said. "That's an understatement. Everybody should be. The immediate reaction from players is -- I don't know if there's a word to describe the amount of disappointment." That won't change immediately, as the NHL has told the PA there won't be any meetings [Friday].

anonymous vote Harry???? The unions don't like to play like that. the unions here in the states are pushing for "card check" legislation so they can eliminate anonymous voting and make sure everyone stays in line.

I was going to ask a question but i forgot, UNION is a dirty word to you.
Seriously man, you read a bad cold war era novel. THE UNIONS......The dirty stinkin' workers......

So you are not disputing the Card Check initiative? Good, at least we can agree on that.

No, I'm just aware of the corruption of the unions and the fact that they have sucked the life out of most every industry (that they are involved in) in this country. How's the steel industry doing? How were the U.S. auto manufacturers doing before the Gummint stepped in? How bout those transportation type union members shutting down major travel hubs on Thanksgiving weekend? Maybe the longshoremen shutting down west coast ports?
Spare the lame union BS about the "workers". The vast majority of U.S workers are not union members and the vast majority of them (the industrious ones) have done fine.
Union membership in this country is shrinking fast Spiny and there is reason for it. That reason is not the rich people you hate.

okay, please post a P.O. box where we can send a calander. You have obviously had not seen one since 1947.
How's the steel industry, etc? Well let's see....after those heroic job creators realised that profits were higher when stuff came from overseas where they don't have to follow those silly regulations (like safety and clean air...just in the way of profit)
Are all Unions okay? no, of course not. And instead of trying to pigeonhole, perhaps actually reading what i write would be benficial. to clear up:
1) I don't hate rich people. I hate greedy people that try to make sure no one else can get a decent living. And the only thing worse than that are people that kiss their tuchases, hoping for some crumbs from "their best customers"
2) I actually, having been on the inside of it, am no real fan of most unions either. But as long as there are going to be miserable SOBs out there that will try to squeeze as much as they can out of people...we will need unions
It might be a better idea to actually check before you answer by the way....and if you insist on deeming an arguent "lame" before it is even made (I wasn't going to by the way) what's the point.
You know, shouting over someone or gainsaying whatever you think someone says may work on FOX NEWS...probably be better for you if you didn't do it in here.

Oh here we go again. It's all FOX news' fault.
I don't watch any television news programs, but you have admitted to watching CNN daily. Yet somehow I get pigeonholed as the guy who is just repeating talking points. Funny, cuz that's what you do. Repeat every dem/lib/union/CNN talking point which mainly consist of; It's the rich people's fault and it's the republicans (that part is partially true) fault. rinse and repeat.
Funny how there is no mention of the unions crushing the profitability of the steel industry from you, I should have made a bet that that would be your position.
Also, please spare us the "Unions are saving the environment" BS. I don't know where you get that from or who you expect to believe it, but seriously...................................
You can also spare me the lame insults about hoping for some crumbs form rich customers. It does nothing more than expose you for the union lackey that you are. When the economy is good I make a lot more money than any union carpenters around here. When the economy sucks, I have very little work and the union boys are unemployed so I'm not seeing much of an advantage for the union boys there.
Your class warfare tripe and envy is sad Spiny, it really is.

okay, let's address your ignorant remarks individually, though there may not be enough hours in a day for thatSorry, reading this may keep your lips moving for awhile
1) Yes, I have indeed copped to watching CNN regularly (too busy for daily anymore) Of the 3 major news stations (though calling Fox News is dubious at best) that isn't so slanted. I have gone on record as saying I don't watch MSNBC for the same reason I don't watch Murdoch/Ailes. And if you took your head out and actually watched it, if anything there is a slight conservative bent. But FOX people think anything different from them is the dreaded "Liberal Media"
2) Not really sure why I have to keep saying this, but I am not exactly John L Lewis here. I think they (unions) are necessary as long as heroic capitalists treat workers like fodder. I have expressed my disdain before
3) I need to know exactly when and where I said unions were saving the environment? I'll save you the trouble...NEVER. What i did say was that your beloved captains of industry are against the clean air regs. (even though Nixon signed them) how you extrapolated what you did is beyond reason to me.
4) as for lame insults...sorry I couldn't come up wth one nearly as clever as "union lackey", which I guess in your world is the height of insult.
5) I'll say again...read it slowly, maybe you'll get it THIS time...there is no envy. I could give less than a rat's tuchas what anyone else has. The fact that i disagree with your stance doesn't make me envious...it makes me content. Sorry you can't feel the same.
6) Class warfare? really? but you don't recycle Fox news lines, right? Sorry I don't act like some kind of Renfield to "wealthy customers"...but class warfare? Right...always the standard line for sychophantic folks like yourself.
have a good weekend

My remarks are ignorant to you because we don't agree? You're typing slowly for me??? How gauche, aren't you sweet? Well at least you've decided to take the high road.
Sorry, but you've shown your true colors over and over again and the only thing that leaves me perplexed is why someone who takes every standard "left wing/progressive" position (re; politics, class warfare, gun control, social issues etc) is so afraid to just come right out and admit to what they are.
As for CNN, it is slanted enough to be known around the country as the Communist News Network and has been for a very long time. Pretending they are less biased than the others is disingenuous.......... or extremely naive.
