08:40 AM ET 12.07 | And, now, Ruben Amaro Jr. waits. The Phillies have a deal on the table to acquire [Michael Young] from the Texas Rangers, multiple sources told CSNPhilly.com on Thursday. Two people with knowledge of the situation say the fate of the deal is in Young's hands. The seven-time all-star has full no-trade rights and could make a decision on whether to join the Phillies sometime Thursday. If Young OKs the deal he will become the Phillies' primary third baseman for 2013. Young, 36, is one of the most decorated players in Rangers history. ... People who know Young say he might be ready to accept a deal because he has become a spare part in Texas and would like a more prominent role with a contending club.

He's been getting closer and closer to being gone over the last three years. Maybe Philly would be good for him.

The Phillie don't need to get younger next year, they need to win. After 2014 they need to rebuild the whole thing. While youth would be nice, they have no thirdbaseman at all so Michael Young will fit very nicely, thank you. He'd look pretty good in the 5 hole behind Utley and Howard.

The best way to build a team is through the farm system. It also is much cheaper.

Yes--and I think this is the last year on Young's contract, so they play him this year, maybe extend one more year, and that gives them time to get someone from either their farm or someone else's farm.

As a Braves fan, I wasn't pleased that they got Revere. He's like having Bourn without all the strikeouts and (soon to be) huge paycheck.
Hopefully they sign Young to even things out.

He hit like .320 the year before with over 200 hits, .300 career hitter, maybe last year was just a down year and not the beginning of the death spiral.

the phllies walking backwards, after so many players been traded last year now the phillies goes back in their own steps and get older, plus michael young should make a stiff desicion and most ask himself, what went wrong between rangers and him??

the good thing about young, he hit 200 hits in every season for the past 6 years, he may got older but gain alot experience at the plate or didn't he??or this is the reason WHY he has been toss away?? a lack in production and a lack of discipline could lead you to the graveyard,,,

There is more to building a team than age. No team ever won starting 9 rookies. The Quakers window is closing fast. They need to win RIGHT NOW. The Phils sell over 3,000,000 tickets every year, even more than the Yankees. In 2015 they must start to rebuild, maybe even in 2014.
