09:51 AM ET 12.09 | The Dodgers' reported deal with free agent righty Zack Greinke could have a ripple effect that impacts the trade market for the Mets' R.A. Dickey. With Greinke headed to Los Angeles -- he reportedly agreed to a six-year deal worth $147 million Saturday night -- the Texas Rangers, a spurned Greinke suitor, may become more aggressive in pursuit of a trade for Dickey. The Rangers and Mets have had discussions about the National League Cy Young Award winner, and a source said last week that the Rangers could be willing to part with super third-base prospect Mike Olt if they lost out on Greinke. While Olt is obviously blocked at third by David Wright with the Mets, scouts say he could handle playing the outfield. The Rangers also might be reluctant to use Olt as a trade chip for pitching after sending infielder Michael Young to the Phillies on Saturday.

I don't think Texas is a good place for Dickey. The knuckleball tends to flatten out at high temperatures. Combine that with a small ballpark and he could get shelled.

True, but the old Arlington Ballpark wasn't nearly as hitter-friendly as the current Ballpark at Arlington.

Olt doesn't make much sense for the Mets--they have 3B and 1B covered pretty well--unless it is part of a three team trade with Olt going somewhere as a third baseman, and the Mets getting an OF or C back. His primary value is at third, so who has pitching to trade and needs a third baseman? There might not be anyone right now, but at the trade deadline something might come up.
