10:10 AM ET 12.09 | The Lakers are debating whether to bring Pau Gasol off the bench when he returns from knee tendinitis, said a person familiar with the team's thinking. Gasol has struggled mightily this season, averaging 12.6 points and shooting only 42%, both career lows. The Lakers are trying to decide how a demotion to the bench would affect Gasol. If they determined it would be adverse, they'd keep him in the starting lineup.

it was just a wrong coach hiring right at the beginning. Everyone knew DAntonie needs 4 shooters on the floor to be effective. People keep on saying to wait for Nash to come back, but Gasol is still not a 3 point shooter with Nash back. As for putting Gasol on the Bench, will be put a 19-millions player on the bench ?

QUOTE(#2):

Him and Dwight don't fit together whereas Jamison and Dwight do.Pau off the bench is a logical move. Backup center.

By doing that, they lose their height advantage.

You Lakers fans do realize that Dumbtoni is the true problem along with the old age in Lakersville. As an individual who witnessed and experienced Dumbtoni's dumbness and lack of leadership firsthand in New York, I can't say I feel sorry for ya. Ya see we have a moron in Jimmy Boy Dolan whom equals the lunacy of Kid Jimmy Boy Buss who in fact did hire this wipe as HC in Knicksville and we all saw how that worked out, well at least all of us with the exception of Jimmy Boy Buss. Now you're going to let Dumbtoni dumbly demote and scapegoat Pau for his lack of direction as a coach....we've seen this before with Melo. Yeah, yeah, yeah Dumbtoni.....it you, you're the real problem!

Keep Pau this season unless there is a great deal on the table. Let him play with Nash and let this team for once have all the pieces in order to see how good they are. By mid season try to bring one or two athletic young shooters to help.

Lakers have the second to worst bench in league. Lakers are 1-10 when bench scores 20 or less points and Lakers fall to 1-11 this season in games decided by 10-or-fewer points, the worst in the NBA. They won more than 66 percent of such games in the previous five seasons, the highest percentage in the NBA.

Lately, the Lakers defense looks like it consists of cardboard cutouts of the players
