10:18 AM ET 12.09 | Joe Benson, who is spending the winter in Fort Myers, Fla., after a horrible 2012, will get a fresh look with the Twins after Denard Span and Ben Revere were traded. One exec says he has the same across-the-board tools as Mike Trout.

I love the hype machine. Mike Trout had a once-in-a-generation type season and they're already dubbing someone "the next Mike Trout". Nothing like saddling a kid with unrealistic expectations.

Sounds like the Twins were catching some flack from their fans for trading both Span and Revere; if this guy can be hyped up a bit, it makes the loss of the other two a little easier to take.

The man batted less than 200 in Double and Triple A this year, so if the Twinkles say he is another Trout so be it. Put him in center field and let him play because they are not going to make the playoffs anyway and this way they can see what they have in him.

the twins trade as many players, now would likely replace and cover the big gaps in the outfield???
guess twins would take a few steps back before becoming a tough team in th e national west.. division,,

dickey should ask to be traded to boston,, a place where he would perform into a better escenario!!!

December 9, 2012  12:26 PM ET

rangers stadium and the heat at texas would likely kill dickey higher expectations,,, or does him?? i mean can he be able to afford the heat???

the twinkies are thin and weak everywhere your eyes can see it,,, and there is no hope at all next season, the houston and the twins would become a twins in the last place in the american league,,

No, the Twins' Benson is NOT the next Trout. Players like Trout come along about once every two to three decades. No offense to Benson, but he is no Trout. He might be good, very good, even, but Trout? No. Get serious, Chicago Tribune.

One exec who thinks he "has the same across-the-board tools as Mike Trout" should stop drinking the Kool Aid. And return to reality. Benson could be good, he is no Mike Trout. Not even close. If I am wrong, please tell me why.

Haha, benson has great tools, but high contact certainly isn't one. Strikes out a ton. Has power and tons of speed, but mike trout is mike trout.

The Twins seem to be having separation anxiety this offseason.
