10:23 AM ET 12.09 | The Cubs were disappointed to lose Brandon McCarthy to the Diamondbacks. According to MLB sources, the Cubs offered the right-hander a two-year contract that would have allowed him to earn more than his $15.5 million deal with Arizona if he stayed healthy and pitched well, but it did not include as much guaranteed money.

If they really wanted them that badly, they should have offered more guaranteed money.

Another sign and trade player that got away. The Cubs hate to deviate anyway from budget players like Scott Baker(5.5 mil) and Scott Feldman(6 mil). This is about the going rate for potential 5th starters. There's plenty more left in the scrap heap out there. You just have to dig deep

Cubs aren't likely to be competitive in the next 2 years; D Backs might be. It is hard to re-build a reputation on a lousy team.

didn't include much guarantee money, wonder why mcCARTHY refuse to accept the cubies offer?? it seems as if the cubies were not to sure about the pitcher's health!!!

cubs offer was way too small, wonder why McCARTHY didn't agree with those numbers???

D Backs are stacking up pitching. Kennedy. Hudson. McCarthy. Cahill. Bauer. Skaggs. Collmenter. Others in the minors.

A deal is coming for an infielder, and Upton is going to be gone too.

And?

If the Cubbies want to sign free-agents, Theo had better offer more guaranteed money than other teams. Otherwise, why would they want to sign with a perennial loser?

Ja hey der, why do you always feel the need to defecate here? Maybe you should go cry in your Bearsies, if you aren't already hanging yourself in your closet. Go Cutler!
