GM Bryan Colangelo: Raptors 'embarrassing'

10:28 AM ET 12.09 | On the sun-baked campus of UCLA, with the players and coaches wandering to the bus after a couple of hours of practice, Bryan Colangelo summed up the state of the Raptors with little equivocation. "This situation is, from all standards, unacceptable," the team's president and general manager said. "It's disappointing, it's embarrassing but this is where we find ourselves." Where the Raptors find themselves is in a funk of unimaginable proportions. They've reached the quarter mark of the NBA regular season with a dismal 4-16 record, they've lost nine of their last 10 games and the capitulation in Friday's 131-99 drubbing in Salt Lake City was cause for enough concern that players and coaches held a 25-minute soul-searching session immediately after the game. "It's obviously something we are addressing, we continue to look and evaluate. Again, 4-16 is unacceptable," Colangelo said.

I vividly remember all these poster tellin us how we made a mistake in not signing both Landry Fields and Jeremy Love, yeah that they were the future because of their youth. Yeah well how the hell is that working out for these two very none descript overpaid backups? Well, how is it?

He is living in his past and father's success. He managed to turn the Raptors around his first year by signing Garbajosa & Parker. Previous management drafted Bosh so he can't take credit for that. After that one promising season it's been downhill ever since.

Kudos for trying to make this into a 'NY is so damn great' topic.
Yes Knicks are doing better this year.
I believe the old saying is; There's only one way to go when you hit bottom.
So, I (along with many, I'm sure) are not surprised that NY Knicks are doing better...can you move on now?

People believe Toronto has a bad team for the wrong reasons.
It ISN'T because Lowry (and his insane contract that NY was dumb enough to grant) arrived here...maybe Toronto is even dumber for the trade.
It isn't because Bargnani is an underachieving player who prefers to stay complacent.
Nor is it any of the uneducated reasons I hear about 'Toronto is in another country...players don't like the cold...blah,blah,blah...'
It is because Colangelo has been deceitfully great at appearing like a competent GM for years and continues to (some how) in Toronto...until recently.
...kinda like D'Antoni fools suckers like NY and LA into hiring him.
It comes down to Colangelo and his poor decisions to create a team with no identity and reward players with long-term contracts that haven't earned it (Bargnani, DeRozen, Turk, Davis, and YES the trade for Lowry).
This is why Toronto NEEDS to cut ties with Bryan and start a new era, otherwise they will continue as the embarrassment of the league.

I'm not. They just need to get rid of Bargs and Jose. Neither match the style of play they're going for.
One thing that people miss is that the NBA is a business and sometimes the coaches get stuck in that. I think Casey is fine but he's having to make decisions that are being filtered down from people above him.
