11:15 PM ET 12.09 | OK, so it is too early. Some qualified candidates might opt for the NFL. Junior Jarvis Jones was among the nation's best players in 2012, and were it not for Manti Te'o commanding so much defensive attention, might have been an invitee this season. However, Jones is second on Mel Kiper's Big Board, so he looks like a pretty safe bet for entering. Let's also operate under the assumption a player like Tajh Boyd, who filed paperwork to test the waters, will indeed depart the collegiate ranks. Boyd was among the nation's most prolific passers in 2012, and would be an easy front runner should he return. The race to the 2013 Heisman may be a year away, and the picture won't be clear for quite some time, but that doesn't mean we have to twiddle our thumbs and not look at who might make the final cut next December.

BS premise. Go over the last few years and the winners were not big on the radar in the season before they won....

Eddie Lacy will probably go pro. His measurables are what the NFL likes. He's big and fast. Not that I think he would be a serious candidate, for exactly the reason they mentioned. He will/would split time with the other RBs. Some teams can't do that, but it helps keep the RBs fresh for the 4th quarter.

If USC has enough guys left to help him out.
I do think he's the best player in CFB from what I've seen.
But, they don't let me vote. Narrow minded of them I think.

Just look at this year for Exhibit A of your thesis. Good point and almost always the case.

Next year is when the drop off should really hit USC. Don't expect a candidate to come from that direction.
