Pau Gasol will start upon return to Lakers lineup

04:03 AM ET 12.10 | Despite the media's rapid overreaction to Pau Gasol's inability to fit into the Los Angeles Lakers' offense thus far this season, while tending to a case of old age, head coach Mike D'Antoni isn't buying that this team, as currently constructed, can't compete. According to ESPN Los Angeles, D'Antoni will not use Gasol in a Sixth Man role upon his return to the team. The Lakers lost their four of their last five games and haven't had Gasol in the lineup for the previous four contests. The question then becomes, are the Lakers just going through the motions while they try to find the right trade for Gasol, or has the rift between the two sides been mended enough that Gasol can co-exist until his contract is up?

Most Lakers Homers are so nieve in their thinking. Here you have them thinking that the return of Nash is somehow going to make a huge difference and that somehow this 38 yr old is going to be able to log long and continues effective minutes thereby making the Lakers into championship contenders. I'll say, "thats quite the dream". Upon his return the Lakers may play somewhat better but its not going to translate into this massive turnaround, you still have Dumbtoni as HC and he still doesn't believe in defense....Translation: You won't win without it!
Here's another example of nieveness by the Lakers homers often compare Kobe to Mike justifying it with "he has 5 rings". Well I say HOF'er & 50 Greatest Scotty Pippen has 6 rings, does that means he led the Bulls to those championships? No. Was he MVP in all 6? No, Did Kobe lead the Lakers to 5 rings? No, did Kobe win MVP 5 times? No (2) 1 of which you can make a strong case for Pau (the same one of now trade rumors) as most believe anyways. Shaq was MVP and it wasn't in dispute on any level as to why he won those 3 MVP's, he led them to them with averages of 35pts 17rb, 3.5blks...not Kobe. Lastly on the Kobe vs Mike comparison (as foolish and nieve as it is) Mike never played in a seventh game, nor has he ever lost a championship series. Kobe has lost two championship series and was a disappearing act in both game sevens he played in, hence the Metta would peace bailout (10) & the Pau bailout (09).
To go even further Kareem's HOF Career by age 30 is better than Kobe's entire career...it goes like this: 6 League MVP's, 2 Finals MVPs (71,80) 10Allstars, 2 Scoring titles, 23,370 pts, 3 Finals appearences, 2 rings, 2 rebounding tiltles, 1ROY. Please wit the Kobe madness.
Funny I never heard Mike losing so much and the having to hope a 38 yr old PG come be soon to bail him and the team he leads out and give them hope. Yeah funny how none of us have ever heard of such. Kobe is going out Like the Gunner he is with 5 rings and a few thousand more points. Thats it!

Pau is still a great center but he has always been an average PF.
Considering:
1) how twin towers consisting of two postup, back-to-the-basket, very limited range jump shooters can no longer work in the modern era of no hand checks and speedy small ball;
2) how easily Dwight Howard has let guards and forwards penetrate and finish at the rim through dunks and yes even layup since he is a Laker (yes he is still recovering, but will he ever come back 100% before Kobe's body starts to no longer respond to his superhuman will;
3) Pau's limited trade value given his age and contract;
4) The need for a TRUE quick defending and defense streching PF plus shooters and perimeter defenders off the bench;
maybe it is time to think REALLY OUT OF THE BOX, thank Dwight Howard for his letting us getting rid of Bynum, and trade HIM not Pau for a true PF and two bench players.
Hum, and one more thing: have Dr. Buss swallow his pride, fire Dumbtoni -- the most overrated coach ever -- take the keys of the Lakers out of his clueless son's hands and hand them over to his daughter's boyfriend, who conveniently happen to be the coaching GOAT who knows the organization and roster like no other.

To Damon Deville: "take the keys of the Lakers out of his clueless son's hands and hand them over to his daughter's boyfriend"...
Seriously? It's a VERY EXPENSIVE franchise to own. What makes you think that the owners is just going to GIVE it away for FREE?!
If Phil Jackson wants to own it, he better come up with some sick amount of pennies that he's saved up over the years!

Again, this is what the Lakers get for embarrassing Phil Jackson ........... it's all about the coaching style ........ but then again Jim BussTed will never learn ......... folks you're witnessing the demise of the Lakers because of Jim BussTed's pride, ego, and not being able to know what's best for the organization.
My whole family and friends were die hard Lakers fans ......... not anymore and have not watched a single Laker game after what they did to Mr. Jackson ........
