Nash can't save the Lakers

08:01 AM ET 12.10 | Considering the Lakers' offense seemed to function well enough on Sunday, the returns of Steve Nash and Pau Gasol may not be the cure. There's too much wrong for even Nash, as gifted as he is, to fix what ails the Lakers. And there's certainly too much out of kilter for them to rest their hopes on the return of Gasol, who has been memorable so far this season only for his struggles at both ends of the floor while battling tendinitis in his knees. Even Coach Mike D'Antoni acknowledged the Lakers can't count on Nash and Gasol to save them. ... "Oh, no, it won't cure everything. But it will help," D'Antoni said of Nash's return, which might occur sometime during the trip to Cleveland, New York, Washington and Philadelphia.

Yeah, I can't see how the return of Nash will help the fundamental problems the Lakers are having now. But, should help some.

"It's a Beautiful Day in this Neighboorhood"

-dedicated to MMA and DJ Homeralot

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a Laker hater
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

It's a horrible day in Lakerland,
But a wonderful day for a beauty.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

I've always wanted to hate a team just like you.
I've always wanted to watch a team lose just like you.

So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you keep on losing?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please just keep on losing!

Most Lakers homers are so nieve in their thinking. Here you have them thinking that the return of Nash is somehow going to make a huge difference and that somehow this 38 yr old is going to be able log long and continueous effective minutes thereby making the Lakers into championship contenders. I'll say, "thats quite the dream". Upon his return the Lakers may play somewhat better but its not going to translate into this massive turnaround, you still have Dumbtoni as HC and he still doesn't believes in defense,.....translation: You won't win without it!

Here's another example of nieveness by the homers, hey often compare Kobe to Mike, justifying it with the "he has 5 rings". Well I say HOFer and 50 Greatest Scottie Pippen has 6 rings, does that means he led the jBulls to those championships? No, did Kobe lead the Lakers to those 5 rings? No (2) 1 of which you can make a strong case for Pau as most believe should have won anyways. Shaq was MVP and it wasn't in dispute on any level as to why he won the 3MVP's, he led them to the rings with averages of 35pts, 17rb, 3.5blks...not Kobe. Lastly, on the Kove vs Mike comparisons (as foolish and nieve as it is) Mike never played in a seventh game, nor has he ever lost a championship series. Kobe has lost two championship series and was a disappearingact in both game sevens he played in, chucking away at will, hence the Metta world Peace bailout (10) & the Pau bailout (09).

To go even further Kareems HOF career by age 30 is better than Kobe's entire career....it goes like the: 6 League MVP's, 2 Finals MVPs (71,80) 10x Allstar, 2 Scoring titles, 2 rebounding title, 2 rings, 3Finals appearences, 23,371 pts, 1ROY, Please wit the Kobe madness!

Funny I never hear Mike losing so much that he had to hope for a 38 yr pg to copme back soon to bail him and the team he leads out and give them hope. Yeah, funny how none of us have ever hear of such a thing. Kobe is going out like the Gunner he is with 5 rings and bs alcolades he doesn't deserve for the most part, and a few thousand more points.....That it!

If Steve Nash can save this train wreck then he must be considered the best player of "All Time." The Lakers have a major problem and only free lance basketball may fix this mess. No chemistry, sense of urgency, defense, offense, strategy, system, responsibility, togetherness, execution, hope, this team with those mega superstars look like crap. Someone need to implode or explode and show some attitude. This can't be happening, you can get better results from a park league team or a bunch of street ballers. It really sucks to watch the Lakers play at this point, even Miami did not look this bad when they assembled their super team. The Lakers at this point look like the Philadelphia Eagles; maybe its not a good idea to assemble a super team, the Knicks look good!

Tier 1 PG's:

CP3
Rondo
DWill
RWestbrook
KIrving
TParker

Tier 2 PG's:

MConnerly
TyLawson
BJennings
RRubio
SNash
RFelton

These tier 2 pgs help their respective teams out, they are not the difference makers and Nash is on that list. He'll help out some, he won't win a ring for the Lakers!

Nash this Nash that....Im sick of them acting like he is some kind of savior. Will he help the team? Of course he will but the issues this team have are deeper than a point guard.

this

Yeah....you got the Pillsbury Doughboy instead. If you think he's going to keep scoring 15 a game then you are more twisted than the Laker fans
