08:02 AM ET 12.10 | Forced to find a Plan B to fill the third-base void left for much of 2013 by Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees may soon have an answer. Kevin Youkilis' agent says his client will decide on a team soon and Youkilis is "giving serious consideration to the Yankees." "Kevin's in the process of considering options and we'll obviously make a decision at some point not too far in the future here," Youkilis' rep, Joe Bick, said Sunday. Bick would not handicap Youkilis' choice in greater detail, nor would he talk about what other teams are involved, but it's clear Youkilis likes the idea of playing for the Yanks though no decision has been made yet. Bick did say that he didn't think past flaps between Joba Chamberlain and Youkilis would have any effect.

If Boston can sign Johnny "The Thug" Gomes, then the Yanks can sign Youk. It's a business. All parties will likely kiss and make up in the name of the almighty greenback.
Whether or not there is good team chemistry remains to be seen. Whether or not it matters, I haven't the foggiest idea.

I guess a chance of winning instead of playing everyday is more important to Youk.

I don't what will be more weird...seeing Youk in pinstripes, or seeing him clean shaven?

Can't be more weird than it was seeing Johnny Damon do likewise on both accounts.

He has been clean shaven before. Either last spring or the spring before he showed up with a Youk baby face, and kept it for about a month. It did look a bit weird. I understand why he grew the tickler back.

Sounds to me more like Youk is waiting for somebody else to make a decent offer because he doesn't really want to play in NY and burn the bridge back to Boston. I don't mean as a player in Boston but just being able to return to his "special place" after his years in MLB is over.

He really doesn't have any other choice...the other team that was interested, the Indians, just signed Mark Reynolds..now whether he plays third or first for them remains to be seen. I think he'll sign with the Yankees.

The plan has been revealed. Throw some money on one year contracts to some vets, hope they have one good yer left, then in 2014 between $60-$90 million comes off the books.

It depends on the FA class of 2014 and the progress of their top minor league talent. And they do have a few players worth watching. It only takes a few. They will have the money for Cano simply because you load the biggest money at the end of of it, starting in 2017. Tex is up then.

He will eventually yup. That better offer isn't going to come as far as money is concerned. I suppose he might go for another offer if the length is better for him but I seriously doubt he's going be offered more per year than 12 million.

I'm not sure about all that.
The only real Boston connection he has now is being engaged to Tom Brady's sister. So yea... a New York connection might be awk-ward. On the other hand after being treated like sheet by the lame manager that Henry et al threw at the team, I'm thinking his feelings about Boston are professional and bittersweet.
He'd play for the Yankees, and he'd make it work.
