08:15 AM ET 12.10 | Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov's roller coaster year hit another downswing over the weekend. [Bryzgalov] was removed from Russia's roster after undergoing a medical exam, according to the Russian Hockey Federation's website. The national team plays in the Channel One Cup tournament this week. There were no specifics about an injury, and Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren did not respond to a request for information. A person on Twitter who translates Russian said Bryzgalov has a virus, based on translating a Russian video report on the goalie. ... [Bryzgalov]has been playing for CSKA Moscow during the NHL lockout. After a slow start, he has regrouped, lowering his goals-against average to 2.41 and raising his save percentage to .907 in 10 games.

The smell of fear is permeating this thread. You all are seeing that GAA and Save % and it is getting to you. Even during the lockout, Bryz is in your heads. I'm betting most of you are hoping for no season now. It's ok to admit it.

Should we be surprised? Trade him to Vancouver for Corey Schneider. He'll look good as Roberta's backup.
