08:09 AM ET 12.10 | What would Michael Lombardi leaving the NFL Network have to do with football in Tuscaloosa? There have been a lot of rumors around the Browns that [Lombardi] could be the next general manager should new team president Joe Banner and owner Jimmy Haslam decide to make a switch after the season. ... Lombardi's past weakness has been the cap, but Banner is an expert in that area. There's also the person Lombardi could deliver as head coach: Alabama's Nick Saban. According to the NFL sources, Saban has let it be known that if he returns to the NFL -- where he flopped, going 15-17 with the Dolphins from 2005-06 -- it would likely be with Lombardi playing [Scott Pioli] to his [Bill Belichick].

See the similar thread under the NFL part of T&R.

Not gonna happen.

Could this be The Pete Carroll scenario? Return to the pro's just ahead of the NCAA sanctions posse.

But would he want to leave for the Browns? So if he leaves and Chip Kelly leaves the college coaching carousel could get very interesting.

if Alabama wins the NC what would be the purpose of staying ? He would make more money in the NFL, more challenges and he would be able to compete for a SB. There will be quite a few open positions in the NFL but I don;t see him necessarily going to Cleveland. If I was him I would go to San Diego.

The link with Satan and this Lombardi guy is an interesting one, but at this point it's all rumor.

You guys need to take it easy on this topic, JK is very likely to either have a heart attack, or start looking for the tallest building/bridge he can find. I propose a rotating "JK Watch", everybody sign up for a shift, please.

Ive stated for the last 5 years that Saban would leave 'Bama after 5 yrs. for the NFL. His ego needs it. CLE is a strong possibility but he's leaving the Tide either way after this year.

This is his 6th year. A little off on your projection, aren't you?

Well, I wouldn't want to go against brotha who is always so spot on in his prognotications (lol), but people sometimes get older and get sick of moving around.

My mind and heart is at ease. He's rebuilt Alabama into the traditional power it was between the 1920s through the end of the 70s.
