08:09 AM ET 12.10 | As far as weekends go, Jeff Withey's couldn't have gone much better. [Withey], who blocked five Colorado shots while wearing a Kansas University basketball jersey Saturday, capped his weekend in a cap and gown Sunday. Withey, KU's senior center from San Diego, graduated with a degree in American studies and a minor in education Sunday afternoon at the Lied Center. "It's been a long time (in the classroom). I'm certainly proud of myself. It feels good to have all your hard work pay off," said Withey, who spent one semester at the University of Arizona (2008-09) before transferring to KU in time for second-semester classes. "I knew at the beginning of last year (he could receive diploma in December)," Withey added.

QUOTE(#1):

This may be a stupid question but if he graduated how is still eligible to play?

He'll take grad courses next semester (maybe one or two) and then drop them if he doesn't need them. This happens a lot.

Wasn't RGIII already in law school when he was drafted?

You get 4 years to play in 5 years, disregarding any extra years for medical redshirting and extraordinary circumstances. If you graduate early, you are not penalized for that and as long as you enroll in graduate courses or such, you can finish out your 4th year of eligibility.

Law School? That was a joke right?

Not at all. I'm pretty sure he had already graduated and was accepted into law school. What I'm not sure about is whether he had actually started or not. Not sure about the time frame.

To reiterate what they others have said...if you ever heard him talk, he is a very smart young man...

I don't know anything about his intellect? I went to law school. I know how much time and focus it requires. Its hard for me to see how one would go about undertaking such a challenge as an active, top tier player in the NFL. It's hard to serve two masters, and sometimes depending on the two masters you're trying to serve its darn near impossible.

Yeah, he put it on hold but it is my understanding he plans to return when he can.

Probably why he started in communications while awaiting his NFL fate.

American Studies? Is that like political science?

political science is an oxymoron.

So, you're a lawyer and a doctor? Wow....

Cheaper. Saves on defending malpractice suits.
