08:09 AM ET 12.10 | As far as weekends go, Jeff Withey's couldn't have gone much better. [Withey], who blocked five Colorado shots while wearing a Kansas University basketball jersey Saturday, capped his weekend in a cap and gown Sunday. Withey, KU's senior center from San Diego, graduated with a degree in American studies and a minor in education Sunday afternoon at the Lied Center. "It's been a long time (in the classroom). I'm certainly proud of myself. It feels good to have all your hard work pay off," said Withey, who spent one semester at the University of Arizona (2008-09) before transferring to KU in time for second-semester classes. "I knew at the beginning of last year (he could receive diploma in December)," Withey added.

He'll take grad courses next semester (maybe one or two) and then drop them if he doesn't need them. This happens a lot.

You get 4 years to play in 5 years, disregarding any extra years for medical redshirting and extraordinary circumstances. If you graduate early, you are not penalized for that and as long as you enroll in graduate courses or such, you can finish out your 4th year of eligibility.

Not at all. I'm pretty sure he had already graduated and was accepted into law school. What I'm not sure about is whether he had actually started or not. Not sure about the time frame.

Yeah, he put it on hold but it is my understanding he plans to return when he can.
Probably why he started in communications while awaiting his NFL fate.
