08:16 AM ET 12.10 | Winnipeg's Ron Hainsey may not have the Q Rating of a Sidney Crosby, but he has been heavily involved in lockout negotiations -- even, perhaps, at his peril. I stress I've never heard it on- or off-the-record from any owner, general manager or negotiator -- but there is a rumbling going around that Hainsey will never again get an NHL contract. (He is an unrestricted free agent next summer.) When I brought it up to him on Friday morning, he nodded in anticipation of the question. Clearly, he's heard the rumours. "Do you worry that, after your contract is completed, you'll never play in the NHL again? ... My wife and I have talked about it," he said. "If I play the way I'm capable of, everything will work out."

And he's modest too.

Yes, he is lacking somewhat in the modesty department, but blackballing him for wanting to get a deal done? that's just dirty pool.

I'm sure Rex will be here shortly to assure you the owners are honest to a fault, integrity is their middle name, and someone with the morals and ethics of the Butt-plug would never allow this to happen.

They should be more worried about shunning the GMs that are signing him and others to those ridiculous contracts...

When are the Jets moving next?

They left Winnipeg in 96, returned in 2011 and over that time frame still nothing had changed in Toronto...

I love you lefties. You bring humor to my day.
BTW, how sad is it that the same players who are crying about the owners attempts to discredit Fehr are putting out tweet after leaked comment trying to smear the owners. If Hainsey doesn't get another contract it will be because he sucks.

Nothing like a good southpaw and we love you righties too. :)

more likely than not, you are correct. But we cannot ever overlook that collusion exists....on both sides

December 10, 2012  10:56 AM ET

so the owners dont want to bargain with the union execs, and then they let rumour slip out that one of the player reps that is heavily involved in the negotiations wont get a call from any club once the contract is complete..... heres the question who the faq will these owners bargain with...

The even funnier thing is that the Jets franchise has been in the playoffs more recently than the Leafs...

And yet last season, the Leafs still managed to finish ahead of the Habs in the standings. You have to be a pretty terribly run hockey club to finish lower than the Leafs...

DL, you know the proverbs...throw stones in glass houses, mock other franchises as a Leafs fan...

Other teams don't even have to use 1967 as an example anymore...they are now starting to chant 2004! 2004!

So you took this article from the CBC as truth?

i dont put anything past the owners at this point.... if hes been talking to his wife about getting blackballed then there has to be some truth to it.... im sure it is just a tactic to get him to soften his stance in the room or to try to get him out of the room altogether.... this kind of garbage is why the talks always blow up... theres no trust or ethics involved
