12:08 PM ET 12.10 | The Baltimore Ravens have fired offensive coordinator Cam Cameron following the team's 31-28 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins, according to ABC 2 News. The Ravens have been an above average squad offensively - at 25.5 points per game, they average the ninth-most in the league - but Cameron has received criticism for his play-calling. Some feel that the 51-year-old doesn't get the ball into the hands of workhorse running back Ray Rice enough, others feel his conservative decisions on third downs have hurt the team, as they're near the bottom of the league in converting in those situations.

So much for this team going anywhere in the playoffs.

Cameron was picked the NFL's worst head coach of all time.

By whom?

Wow. Just, wow.

And - here I was hoping they might be able to provide some type of challenge to the Giants in two weeks.

Okay, I get the whole not giving it to Ray Rice enough thing. But Cameron has gotten the most out of Joe Flacco. And Cameron is not at fault for the defense crumbling in the last 2 4th quarters and OT. Talk about panic in the Big Crabcake......

What an odd move. Twenty-eight points ain't bad. It's that Ravens' D that folded under pressure late in the game with an eight point lead. The dreaded prevent-defense again? Ray Lewis must've been livid.

I wouldn't have fired anyone, but would've had a long talk with the DC and special-teams coach (64 yard KO / OT return). Ravens had this one in the bag and gave it up.

I agree. Flacco is not going to make the next OC look any better.

I wonder if this is an indication that they will not re-sign Flacco?

You fire you OC with 3 weeks left when you're fighting for home field? Really? Out in the first round.

December 10, 2012  01:05 PM ET

Makes as much sense as the hiring in the first place.

S-C-A-P-E-G-O-A-T.

The real problem is that with Ray getting older , or at least acting human instead of a football cyborg, and Suggs is clearly not the same player, and Ed Reed also on the older side of the coin, their D doesn't scare anyone anymore. Teams are putting together longer drives, pounding the D with the run and making big plays all over the field. Offensively, they are as good or better than any Ravens team in recent memory.

Exactly. The Ravens are may favorite Team so its hard to admit but.......... Joe Flaccid is a "game manager" , not a top tier QB.

I was actually thinking it meant the opposite. Joe and Cam never got along, and apparently Joe won, finally.

As has been said, offense wasn't really the problem yesterday, it was the defense. I can think of plenty other games over the last couple of years after which firing Cam Cameron would have seemed more appropriate.

Strange move for a team leading its division. This smells of panic after two losses in a row.
