11:40 AM ET 12.11 | Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show Tuesday that wide receiver Dez Bryant will be the "ultimate decision-maker" between having season-ending finger surgery or playing through the pain and risking long-term problems. "Dez will the the ultimate decision-maker as to whether or not he wants to continue to try to play with a lot of protection or whether he should have surgery. The reason for the surgery is because you could have a life-lasting stiffness there." Jones later said that no decision has been made yet by the team or Bryant.

if he's smart, he'll have the surgery and prolong his career. This season has the cowboys WAY on the outside looking in as they lose tiebreakers to everyone else in the division.

Given the Jerry Jones - Jay Ratliff discussion earlier, this could be a statement by Jerry - toughen up, get through it or ask your agent to think about what he's going to do with you next year.

He's got over a thousand yards, JJ isn't gonna let him walk

You're expecting JJ to make good football decisions?

You're expecting Bryant too make a good decision about anything? The guy has to have a curfew at his age, but he's responsible enough to be the "ultimate decision-maker" about his health?

"..because you could have a life-lasting stiffness there." Wow, and I was surprised when they warned about stiffness lasting more than 4 hours.

And you thought you had issues down there!

Play through the pain if your team has a chance at the playoffs.

With a win over the Redskins to end the season, the Cowboys would own the tiebreakers over the Giants (split head-to-head, Cowboys 4-2 in division and Giants 3-3) and Skins (split head-to-head, tied division record assuming the Skins beat the Eagles, Cowboys with a better common opponent record). Of course, there's the matter of actually being tied at the end of the season . . .

Cowboys need to win out and get help from the Seahawks and 49er's. I say have the surgery and be done with it. Of course Jones being Jones he will make the kid feel bad and he will play.
