NHL, NHLPA to meet again on Wednesday

08:22 PM ET 12.11 | In what some are calling an "attempt to save the season," the NHL and NHLPA are headed back to the bargaining table this Wednesday at a secret location after a round of unorthodox labor talks between NHL owners and players quickly disintegrated last week. The talks will be coming on the heels of the NHL canceling another round of regular season games through December 30th. Which leaves the door open for an abbreviated season to occur if the two sides can agree on a new collective bargaining agreement soon. As it was reported yesterday that brings the total number of games lost to this lockout up to a whopping 526 games and counting, which works out to be roughly 43% of the season. But, there is still a chance for a shortened season and no thats not me trying to get your hopes up. That's all it is at this point, a chance. There's also a chance we could get hit on by Carrie Underwood tomorrow or win the lottery and trust me neither of those will be happening. Today marks the 20th anniversary of Gary Bettman becoming NHL commissioner.

Wonder if the puck bunny wants her hubby out of the house?

I wonder if anybody cares anymore? Hockey is a free commodity to me. I will not contribute one red cent to the NHL. Entertain me, you know when you're not too stupid to do so, and I promise to leave my TV on.

Sorry for the rant fellas, but this is pathetic!

It appears, not sure yet but it seems that way, that it's possible they've pushed you too far? Cheer up Center Ice.............it will happen one day, the puck will drop again. But none of these guys......owners, Bettman, Fehr (either one) should be allowed to cross the street without adult supervision. It won't happen but the best way to get the message across would be for NO ONE to go to a game for the first week after the settlement.

NHL, NHLPA to meet again on Wednesday

To what purpose? Neither side is about to yield an inch so, why bother? Unless .... they are getting together to decide who gets what for Christmas.

Same here. It'll be a long time before any of those fat porkers (on either side) get to pick this fan's pockets. Enough is enough. I walked away from MLB, never to return. And, I'm this close >II< to do the same with the NHL.

Being serious.............I agree with you. The whole thing (all three lockouts) were macho silliness and could have been avoided by sincere proposals to solve actual problems on both sides. Both ownership and players have given up money they will NEVER recover for adjustments that could have, and will be made, with the lockout in the first place. I really do love hockey too. I'm an American (from the DC area) so unlike many Canadians I didn't grow up skating or watching hockey. Started when I still had hair and I was in my teens. It's the best game in the world played by the most talented athletes and I never tire of it....at any level. So, I'll go back again despite my threats not to. It's a shame that the greatest game in the world is presided over----on all sides----by the most stupid, greedy people in the world.

Good words, and I agree. It doesn't matter if you're American, Canadian or wherever. A die hard hockey fan is forever. I grew up in the Great White North and every Christmas came with a new pair of skates. All the boys would gather at the rink precisely at 11:00 (after Xmas mass) and proceed to shovel the rink with the assortment of shovels left out by the caretaker. Lunch was a forgotten thing as we played until dark. The parents would usually come down in the afternoon with hot chocolate and cookies. Some of the best damned memories of my childhood those Christmas Days. I'm sure Bettman never had a pair of skates on in his life!
