08:13 AM ET 12.12 | After Notre Dame's annual awards show last Friday, nose guard Louis Nix considered his Lineman of the Year Award a beginning of sorts. "I really never got an award in college yet, so this is the start," said Nix, glasses, shirt and tie replacing his gold helmet and No. 9 jersey for the evening. "Next year I'm trying to be like Manti and I'm trying to get like seven or eight of these awards. This is the start." Nix could kick-start a trophy-heavy 2013 season with a strong cap to his 2012 campaign. That opportunity arrives Jan. 7 when the top-ranked and 12-0 Irish play No. 2 Alabama in the BCS Championship game. "We know what's ahead of us and we're ready to play 'Bama," Nix said. "That's what's on the brain."

ROFLMAO...
These are kids...
I hope other than the 20 hrs of week of practice they have school, bikini's and cold one's on their brain so when they lose it will not be near as devestating!

That is better for football players to have on their mind than this.

LOL, yeah too bad they have to wait 6+ weeks, after their last regular season game to play Bama. I could never understand why the BCS can't finish up the Bowl games on January 1st!!!

Remember just a few years back all the major networks had games on from 11am till 11pm on Jan 1. That was good you could lay on the couch and recover from the night before and watch football all day, I hate the current format but as HOGGIE SAID its all about the $$$$$$$$$$ and thats why they di it the way they do now.

the worst part being that the game is held on a MONDAY night. The game should be on a saturday or during the holidays. I don't want to take days off of work just to do things adequately. Meat needs to be supervised and beer doesn't drink itself!

Yeah I do watch some of the NFL playoff games, but I'm not really fond of the wildcard teams from both of the AFC and NFC, but again I do understand the money issue!!!

LOL, now that is my thinking exactly!!!

Good point, but why not have the game on a Saturday, so the bars can make some money?? By having it on a Monday night, limits fans from really letting their hair down, for fear of a hangover on Turesday morning.

But, you're an LA Rams fan from back in the day and find yourself pulling for a up and coming team from St. Louis, aren't you and don't you?

I think they do it for TV. Like how programs scheduled for Saturdays don't do as well as programs scheduled on weekdays. They don't want to put it on Thursday because of the NFL. I thought it used to be on Tuesday night, but maybe they are bucking a trend? I dunno.
As for the bowl games after Jan 1st, that would ghave happened with or without the BCS. These bowls have realized that running them back to back on January 1st was not as much money, so either way, it was going to be spread out.
