Warren Sapp wears "missing" Super Bowl ring to reunion

06:26 PM ET 12.12 | When Warren Sapp filed for bankruptcy earlier in the year, Buccaneers fans everywhere were enraged that their former favorite player had lost his Super Bowl ring from the 2002 season. We all got over it and forgot that Sapp lost such a prized possession until he showed up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10 year Super Bowl reunion last Sunday - and his ring was miraculously found in time for the event. All in all, no one's really going to care about this for long. But it is an interesting footnote to a story that had some people scratching their heads a few months ago when Sapp reported the item missing - turns out the thing was in the couch with the remote the whole time. Isn't that just the darndest thing?

I don't know what state he filed in. Some states have their own set of exemptions and you can choose between the federal exexmptions and the state. The value of the ring is too high to qualify for any federal exemption. I can only speak to NYS law, but it wouldn't qualify if he selected the NY exemptions, either.

If Sapp lied about the ring on his petition, it is perjury.
If he really lost it and listed it on his petition as "missing" and later found it, it is not perjury.
You astutely note that even if it was perjury, it would be awfully hard to prove.
