09:46 PM ET 12.12 | There had been some questions regarding the status of Alabama Crimson Tide junior quarterback AJ McCarron. Would he enter the 2013 NFL Draft or would he return for one final hoorah at the collegiate level before making the jump? On Wednesday, McCarron answered any questions. McCarron announced that he would be returning to Alabama for his senior season. "I had many goals for myself when I came to the University of Alabama," McCarron said. "I have been lucky enough to achieve some of those goals, but some are still ahead of me. There were many factors in my decision to return to Alabama for my senior year but, after talking with my family and coaches, I knew it was the right choice for me. I love the University of Alabama, my coaches, my teammates and our fans. I am excited to have the opportunity to play with my brother (sophomore tight end Corey McCarron), continue to grow as a leader, continue to help our team win football games and develop even further as a quarterback. The NFL has long been a dream, but I think another year at Alabama can only help my chances of being successful at the next level."

AJ McCarron, for all of the criticism of rival fans, has been the best QB Alabama has had since I cannot even remember. Certainly since the 70s in my opinion. The only one that comes even close was Mike Shula in the 80s.

And yes, I know brotha thinks he is mediocre. brotha thinks all Alabama players are mediocre.

JK, I agree, McCarron has been the best QB at Bama since "Broadway Joe".

He plays his role to a T. He's consistent, rarely makes mistakes, and the rest of the team doesn't get in situations where he has to baile them out.

Yes I agree, that is what a good running game can do for "any" good QB!!!

Um, yeah... And McCarron doesn't inexplicably blow plays all by himself... like a certain other SEC QB.
