03:53 AM ET 12.13 | Lovie Smith's seat hasn't been any hotter than it is right now, so I thought it would be worthwhile to take a look at some possible candidates to replace him in the event that Phil Emery decides to launch him. Should Lovie Smith get the axe in Chicago after a probable Bears collapse, who could come in and take over this team and not have to go through a rebuilding phase? There are the obvious choices of Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden and Sean Payton, but GM Phil Emery has some connections to guys like Herm Edwards and Todd Haley. Or could the Bears go the route of hiring an assistant or coordinator as head coach, maybe a guy like Bruce Arians or Kyle Shanahan or perhaps a college coach like Chip Kelly or Bill O'Brien? The possibilities are endless, but the question is who fits best in Chicago?

to me Dungey or gruden would not be a change! lets face it the tampa 2 was figured out a long time ago! now Cower or even Ryan could work i think the talent is there but the lovie 2 is 2001,s news. we need a 3-4 D stand up mcclein squeese the last few years out of lac and Briggs Conty is solid ..as much as people praise the D its the D that kills us! When bears play good teams they put the ball either between s&lb or quick slants and pick it apart... Dungie ran the 2 in 06 but was smart enough to mix it up Lovie just wont ..ive hated the lovie2 from day 1 only time they were good in my opinion is when Rivera ran it by defult and mixed it up a bit since hes been gone its been just ok we will never win that way always picking late in draft cus all we are in medocor
