08:10 AM ET 12.13 | Davey Johnson traded in his baseball uniform on Wednesday, when the D.C. Chamber of Commerce honored him with their Hometown Hero Award. This isn't Johnson's typical setting, and what weighed on his mind instead of business partnerships and bottom lines were wisecracks, the next baseball season and bringing back Adam LaRoche. The Nationals and the free agent first baseman have been talking for months now, with little recent progress. The Nationals have made their position clear and LaRoche wants to come back, but is listening to other teams' offers. The Nationals, however, remain optimistic. "I thought there were some positive signs from [General Manager Mike Rizzo] that he thought we could get something done before Christmas," Johnson said.

Maybe it would make more sense to give the job to the much cheaper Morse?

I'd like to keep 'em both.

I don't think his glove is of La Roche's caliber though.

LaRoche and Morse can share first.

Harper, Morse, Span and Werth can share the OF.

It's called depth, and makes sense.

As of the $25m/year deal Hamilton just inked in LA, i'd be VERY surprised if the Rangers aren't on LaRoche like white on rice.

He's perfect for the Nats and The Rangers, Swisser can play right field and First Base if he's in right instead of Cruz for the Rangers, Nahaaaaaaa!
