01:15 PM ET 12.13 | With the Los Angeles Lakers coming into town for a Thursday night showdown against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Lakers' superstar Kobe Bryant was busy throwing out compliments to Carmelo Anthony. In an interview with Stephen A. Smith (via ESPN's Ian Begley), Bryant called 'Melo the toughest cover in the NBA, even tougher than LeBron James. "For me, yeah," Bryant told Smith on Wednesday. "He's always been a player that I enjoyed guarding the most. He was the most difficult because of his size and his speed." "'Melo does it all and he's as strong as a bull. For me, I weigh (180 pounds) soaking wet. Going up against that bull, man, it's fun but it's extremely challenging."

I just hope the ankle sprain is nothing serious.Melo is playing otherworldly so far this season.

I hope not either. He was on his way to 60 points last night. He was in that kind of zone.

Melo has always been capable of this caliber of play and has played like this before during his career. Right now, he has the right pieces around him and he loves the bright lights of NYC. This is a good place for him and he will keep this up.

He probably means Carmelo Anthony is the toughest guy "he can cover". Still, last night left a lot to be desired.

And it's a challenge he's no longer up to.

he has show his current play in streaks /flashesand what frustrated me is that I knew her had it in him to do this night in, noght out. I think him seeing lbj win a ring- forced him to truly look himself in the mirror and understand that he can carry a team to a ring if he gets after it on BOTH ends

Well I guess then it's official.
It's a Hawks vs Knicks ECF !!!

F the Heat LOL

Kobe is throwing in the towel on this season and his career. I have never heard this guy give out so many compliments to opponents. Jordan, Kareem never did this and even now long after their playing days ended have not given compliments to players past and present when compared to their status.

Melo started great last night, but I don't know if he would have approached 60. He played well, but after that scorching first quarter, he cooled off quite a bit.

Good point.
I can't stand Kobe......he's ugly, he's stupid, his ego is bigger than his house and he is overrated in my books.
