04:26 PM ET 12.13 | The Big East's seven Catholic basketball schools will leave, either to start their own thing or to kill the conference entirely. They'll likely try and join up with a few schools from the A-10, whether in a new league or some other arrangement. The football schools are left still trying to piece together a conference with four teams and nine penciled in as joining.

Well, if the Big East doesn't do something drastic to become the envisioned b'ball conference, then, after they dissolve, the new conference could claim the Big East name...
