08:11 AM ET 12.14 | One of college football's success stories has come at the expense of Ken Malcome's own success at Georgia. [Everybody knows about] freshman tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall this season. Gurley was named a Freshman All-American by The Sporting News on Thursday. He became just the second Georgia true freshman to surpass 1,000 yards in a season (1,260 to date) and scored 17 touchdowns, including a 100-yard kickoff return. Marshall emerged as Gurley's primary backup. ... "I'm not too happy with that situation," Malcome said following Georgia's practice Thursday afternoon. "But like I said to the coaches, I'm a player and I'm going to do what they tell me to. I've got two more years of football, then I don't know. We're going to see what happens."

Maybe it's early and the caffeine hasn't settled in but this story is confusing.

Malcome is feeling left out. He was a sophomore this year and expecting to get more carries and starts. The frosh dynamic duo, Gurshall bumped him down the depth chart.

Agreed...but if you click on the article, you'll see that Malcome is the sophomore backup to both Gurley and Marshall.

caffeine infusion has made it more clear. Thanks for the help.

I would be bummed too if my job was taken from me by some phenoms that I probably couldn't unseat.

Transfer to FIU, FAU, GSU, JSU you get the idea.

If he wants to play out his last two years of eligibility without interruption, he do better dropping down to a FCS program with a history of producing players that went on to the NFL.

Good point, I was thinking the same thing.

I can see why he's frustrated but that's life and he's getting a free college degree. Life ain't so bad.

JFF will be the first Heisman winner to lose his job. Kenny Hill will beat him out in 2 years.

Not really. Showers could be a starter at most any other school. Matt Davis has that potential too. These 2 aren't your average 2nd & 3rd string roster-spot-takers. And since the Heisman award they both know there really won't be an open competition for QB next year.

Mike Sherman really recruited well and left a fully-stocked cupboard behind. Sumlin stepped into a great situation.

I was referring to the fact there are back ups at every position at all schools and they all want to be the first in, fact of life.

Yes, and I was referring to the fact that these are not your average backups.

One of them should look into moving on to LSU, or both.
