09:43 AM ET 12.15 | Rex Ryan's sudden about-face with Tim Tebow appeared to surprise even Tebow himself. Barely 24 hours after telling reporters Tebow's ribs weren't healthy enough for him to run the Wildcat offense or serve as a punt protector Monday night against the Titans, Ryan switched gears yesterday morning and said, in effect, "Never mind." The Jets coach claimed Tebow looked so good in practice Thursday it caused Ryan to consider having him resume both roles in what will be an important game for 6-7 Gang Green's slim playoff hopes. "He moved around great [Thursday]," Ryan said. "This is the best he's looked in several weeks. He moved around [so] good that we may get him back in similar roles." Tebow expressed surprise when Ryan's comments were relayed to him by reporters after the workout, saying he hadn't practiced the Wildcat any more or less than usual this week.

Gang Green's slim playoff hopes

And after this week they can add "none."

Not so sure about that. The AFC wild cards look a lot like the losers bracket in a bowling tournament.

So was he hurt as in Mike Vick hurt ?

December 15, 2012  11:32 AM ET

The lack of donuts, fried chicken, cheeseburgers and fries have clearly clouded Rex Ryan's already muddled brain. Give that man 5 or 6 Krispy Kreme burgers!

December 15, 2012  12:02 PM ET

Why would anyone be surprised by anything Rex does ?

Hurt ribs can last for over a month. Experience talking here.

LOL - What? Just because the 5-8 Brownies and Bolts are still "In the Hunt?"

December 15, 2012  12:43 PM ET

So now we can see Tebow for his usual 2 plays per game. So exciting!

He could say a lot worse.....no, wait a minute....he couldn't.

exactly.

Too bad the Saints are not in the AFC as they would have a very good shot at making the playoffs.
Seems there are very few good teams in the AFC this season. Want us to have the Pats pat schedule for once and see our way to the Super Bowl. That is unless Goodie Goodell comes up with some more unsubstantiated allegations.

Sanchez screws up put McElroy in!.....the experiment didnt work with Tebow in the wildcat....either Tebow starts or sit him!!!

December 15, 2012  01:51 PM ET

Isn't Tebow some backup or something?

December 15, 2012  01:58 PM ET

Jets need a real coach, a real offensive coordinator and a real quarterback. Beyond that, they're pretty solid.

December 15, 2012  02:16 PM ET

gonna put tebow back in in a "similar role" rex???? and exactly what role was that??? this whole tebow situation was a train wreck.... rex is an **** clown that is commited to a qb who has played terribly but hasnt given tebow a snap to see if he could have sparked something before the jets were all but eliminated from the playoffs.... ive never been a more disappointed jets fan then this season.... theres a divide somewhere between the coach and gm... otherwise why bring in a qb who brings tons of media drama and not play him....

Well, the Brownies did beat the Steelers so anything is possible.

They also need a real offensive line and a featured running back.

Mmm I am not so sure about that especially with how good the Colts have been this year and once Big Ben gets healthy again for the Steelers, watch out.
