06:26 PM ET 12.15 | College football upsets are a massive deal when they happen, but when upsets occur in college basketball, it's kind of like seeing the Heat lose; it's just not a massive deal. But it's not a minor thing either, just ask the folks in Indiana how they felt after getting dethroned as the best team in the country after Butler upset them in overtime. Coming into the season, the Hoosiers were favored to do some serious damage come tournament time, but there's a little thing called a season before that and the Hoosiers have just suffered their first blow of the year. It's not like college football, where losing a game means you're out of the National Championship picture, but losing is never a good thing. The Hoosiers are fighting for the much coveted No. 1 seed in the tournament and that took a hit today when Butler rolled in and threw a wrench into the machine.

Not sure why anyone is surprised anymore when Butler, St. Joseph, or Gonzaga knocks off a top BCS team. They've been doing it for years now. Or doesn't anyone watch SportsCenter anymore?

It happens to even the best of them, much less them.

Agree...if you read what Brad Stevens said after the game it didn't expose them. He said Indiana is still the team to beat in his opinion.

It exposed the fact that a good team on a good day can beat another good team on a bad day.
Earth-shattering.

A team from Indiana won....so, the Hoosiers needed that loss, it will teach them how to play in the paint, which they haven't done well at.

Upsets happen. I wouldn't put too much stock into this. Like the article said, it's not like they're not gonna make the NCAAs. Even the best teams in the country are going to lose four or five games or more.

No, Butler did NOT expose Indiana. Indiana has an employee known as a "COACH". The issues they had vs. Butler will be corrected during the course of the season. (No haters, either. Butler had a fantastic upset victory, and they deserved to win).
Teams evolve over the course of a season. Their coaches implement new strategies, concepts, plays and responsibilities for its players. Then the players' rotations may be altered. Players' physical conditioning is improved. Every successful team in the history of the world has had to make changes during the course of a season. Indiana will.
Did Butler "expose" Indiana? No, but the author of this article was exposed for his lack of knowledge and understanding of basketball.

Well good the thing is they actually play it out in college basketball. It wasn't a big ten loss or NCAA tourney loss. So it isn't earth shattering....and Butler is a good team.

Yes, it exposed a LOT. Indiana can't handle Butler WITHOUT 3 of their big men. Indiana has played NOBODY this season is the most over rated team in college basketball. Try a team like DUKE that has played (and beaten) 3 top 5 teams already this season, now that is a schedule deserving of a number 1 ranking. Who did Indy beat? UNC...so what? Had to go to OT with Georgetown...I don't think they're even a top 15 team.

It certainly does. It exposed Hulls as probably the slowest defender in college basketball even though he is a great shooter. In the highlights whenever Butler scored, it was nearly all at the expense of poor Hulls. In the last play a walk-on scored over Hulls as if he wasn't even there. All IU needs to do in the future under last play situation is simply replacing Hulls with a good defender. There is no reason to play him for defensive purpose. This one is on the coach. He should know the weakness of a player.

A simple defense-offense substitution for the last play can put IU back to the top. It is good that this defeat exposed the weakness of Hulls as a slower defender. It can be fixed by defense-offense substitution in the future.

I'm surprised the Butler fans didn't rush the court...oh wait, it was just IU.
