10:55 AM ET 12.16 | Third-string Stanford quarterback Brett Nottingham won't be with the Cardinal at the 2013 Rose Bowl after the school announced Saturday that he turned in his playbook and is transferring to an unspecified school. Nottingham, a redshirt sophomore who grew up in the East Bay and played for Monte Vista High School in Danville, saw action in only two games this season after backing up Andrew Luck in six a year ago. After Luck graduated, Nottingham ended up as the odd-man-out when Josh Nunes took over the top spot and then was replaced by Kevin Hogan. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Nottingham had 10 completions in 16 pass attempts during his time at Stanford, including a 39-yard touchdown in the school's 57-3 rout of San Jose State in 2011.

Heard a rumor the other day that Gunner Kiel might transfer before he even sees playing time at ND.

Is this wishful thinking he will end up at SC?

If he wants to go, then go. If it was me, I believe I would've waited till AFTER the Rose Bowl to do it. jeez louise

I agree, it does seem a little strange, that he didn't wait until after the Rose Bowl.
