11:28 AM ET 12.16 | The AT&T Center crowd fell silent with 2:42 left in the first quarter of the Spurs' 103-88 victory over the Celtics on Saturday night. Manu Ginobili, the Spurs' emotional leader, lay on the floor for several minutes after a collision with Boston's Chris Wilcox. Ginobili left the game and did not return. The injury was diagnosed as a contusion to the left quadriceps of the player famously nicknamed "El Contusion" by former teammate Brent Barry in 2007. Ginobili's availability for Monday's road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder is not known, but Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not sound optimistic.

QUOTE(#2):

They're doing fine and they are rebuilding the right way. Who is out there right now that they can get and build around? You can't get a great player instantly just like that. Look at what the Lakers are doing. Are they successful and are they going in the right direction? Should they go way over the cap and bring in all these expensive players and then hope that they will succeed in getting to the finals? Durant and Lebron will not be available for them.

How exactly are they "rebuilding"? They don't have a SINGLE asset that can be considered a "franchise player" types going forward.
Both Spurs and Celtics are holding on to dear life their aged stars and hoping they can squeeze out one more championship. Sadly, it is a recipe for failure. You need younger fresher legs deep in the playoffs and no one is going to match Miami or OKC in that department.

It is an end of era with Pops and Timmy.

Are we sure Ginobli is hurt, or is Popovich just sitting him since it's a game against a top contender?
