04:44 PM ET 12.16 | The nation is still in mourning following the unspeakable tragedy in Newtown, Conn. Far too many children saw their lives and dreams cut short or had their innocence ripped from their hands because of the unforgivable acts of one person. Many people around the country are looking for a place to take their minds off of the tragedy and the world of sports has provided that outlet. However, while sports have provided an escape from the harsh realities of the real world, we still must acknowledge what happened, and professional teams have been giving their own tributes to the victims and their families. Prior to Saturday's game against the Washington Wizards, the Miami Heat players marched onto the court for a moment of silence. In a very touching moment, many of the players brought their children to the court with them to observe the moment of silence. "Very emotional time," LeBron James said. "(Dwyane) Wade brought [the idea] up. We all thought it would be the best thing to do. Not taking anything for granted, knowing that we have our family still. Very emotional time and to have our kids out there was great."

I don't care what the politics are. I don't care if people want to carry guns or missiles in their homes. The shootings in the schools, Churches, temples, malls have simply got to stop. period. End of Story. If that means certain guns will be banned or whatever, that's what should happen. If there are other solutions, then the experts should chime in and get it DONE.
It is SIMPLY not acceptable for gun owners to come thumping their chests when so many kids get shot!! COME UP WITH A SOLUTION and then thump your chests.

Good thing Sean Kemp wasn't playing. Pretty sure they'd need a bigger arena.
All kidding aside, nice tribute (even though I can't stand the Heat...)
