04:36 PM ET 12.16 | On Sunday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys will take the field for the second time following the death of their teammate Jerry Brown, who was killed in a fatal car accident. Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Brent and Brown have a strong connection. The two were roommates, best friends and some even say they were more like brothers. The two had been teammates since their time at the University of Illinois. While Brent has to live with what he did, Brown's mother, Stacey Jackson, wanted to let Brent know that he has been forgiven for the unfortunate accident that took his life. In fact, Brown's mother doesn't want to see Brent prosecuted following the intoxication manslaughter charges. "I've forgiven him, because he has enough on his plate with just reliving the whole thing over and over, and that's going to be for the rest of his life," Jackson said.

Agree.......I don't know what the exact punishment should be, but him being on the sidelines is just way too easy....it's as if nothing important happened......totally sends the wrong message.

Yup, because they both came to the conclusion that driving home was better than cabbing it. If you get in the car with a drunk, you're as big of an idiot as the drunk.

So was I. I don't think it was appropriate, and I'm sure there will be some discussion about it on the highlight shows.

What message? If your taking your cue from millionaire children playing games with billionaire executives, you might want to rethink your values. It's a football game for crying out loud. Might I add "a really good one".
Not to mention it's no ones business how they deal with it. Enjoy the games and forget about the bull.

How many times is this kid going to get behind the wheel while drunk and face the bare minimum of punishment? Another human is dead because of what he did. Here in MA that's a two-year prison sentence. Let him serve it and maybe get the idea that he has to be responsible for his actions.

I don't want him prosecuted either - I think any drunk driver that takes another person's life should be summarily executed. They call it an accident, but no one "accidentally" takes his keys and gets behind the wheel, starts his car, and drives it after being out all night drinking.

Err...no, Ray Lewis was not a murderer. An obstructor of justice and liar, but he didn't kill anyone himself. Having lived in Atlanta at the time of the shooting, I got to hear all the gory details of the police investigation. I even remember thinking at the time that it was about time a celebrity didn't get the royal treatment. Lewis' biggest problem was being with his old "friends" even though a lot of them were gang bangers, and thinking they would behave themselves - then trying to cover for them when they didn't. Stupid, very stupid.

So you've never done this yourself, right? Drive while impaired that is.

It would be wrong for the Cowboys to abandon the kid altogether, but they shouldn't have let him on the sidelines at all.
