Change coming to Chicago

07:46 AM ET 12.17 | Sunday's loss to the Pack stung more than most -- even if a 21-13 final score suggested something more respectable. Change is coming to the Bears. It has to be. You don???t lose to your archrivals six consecutive times and stand still. You don't play as poorly as the Bears did Sunday and have people hold on to their jobs. ... Coach Lovie Smith is the one who put a premium on the rivalry against the Packers. He's the one who said beating the Packers was the most important thing for the franchise each season. So now he has lost eight of the last nine to the Packers, dropping his career record against them to 8-11. "You don't want to lose to your rival year in, year out," Cutler said. "Then it's not a rivalry anymore. It's a domination." Time for change.

Lovie needs to scrap the Tampa 2 - great coaches evolve with the game. That D will dominate with great athletes against an average offfense. But as we've seen, it sucks against good teams. And I don't know if Lovie had any involvement in NOT acquiring even one o-lineman. Cutler may not be the greatest QB, but give the guy some help. An aging defense on top of that and the Bears may get worse before they get better.

It is interesting how when things are good in Chicago, they HAIL the OC, or the defense, or Cutler... But when things are bad, it's all Lovey.

Lovie should've fired a coordinator. It's kind of a thing this year.

If only the Steelers had put away the Cowboys instead of laying a dinosaur egg.

They're going to fix the offensive line?

December 17, 2012  09:11 AM ET

Green Bay's special teams were leaving the door wide open for Chicago to capitalize, and the Bears could not do it. Chicago was penalizing itself out of touchdowns and big plays; the team simply isn't focused enough. A 7-1 season is about to be flushed away... something does have to change. GM Phil Emery has a lot to think about.

That line should have been fixed two season ago. Why pay the money Chicago has for Cutler if he's not going to get a line that can handle a two-man rush? The Bears need to stop thinking that they can coach-up crappy players into a contender. It's not working.

The Bears played like crap yesterday. Waaaay too many penalties. When a team clearly is not focused, the blame will usually drift toward the HC. I'm not saying Lovie needs to be singled out, but that team is clearly in free-fall after a 7-1 start.

He should be thinking about job hunting.

Congrats on the win yesterday. Enjoy having Cousins on the roster for as long as you can. He looks like one of the few capable backups in whom a team can truly be confident.
