Yankees interested in Bourn?

07:59 AM ET 12.17 | While the Yankees haven't made a splashy signing on the order of Zack Greinke or Josh Hamilton, they're still formidable. The Yankees have re-signed some of their own free agents. The biggie was Hiroki Kuroda, but also Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, and Ichiro Suzuki. To this point, they have let Nick Swisher walk, and after their bad news on Alex Rodriguez, they went out and signed Kevin Youkilis to a one-year, $12 million deal. The Yankees aren't going to be a bad team. ... It will be interesting to see where [Michael Bourn's] market goes. Some believe the Yankees are quietly interested and will pounce if the price comes down, which would give them the leadoff hitter they have wanted for some time. The Rangers remain a possibility.

Is he really that much better at the lead off spot than Ichiro Suzuki? I think the Yankees are done spending this year.

He's way too young.

Since all of the big name free agent center fielders are gone Boros has got to realize that he is asking to much for a player with speed but strikes out to much fo a lead off hitter. Seattle would probably be a good fit.

He would look great in Citi Field!!!

Meh, some team might give him a few years with decent coin....But this guy isn't the player NY needs going forward

The Yankees are in a tough spot roster-wise. Old stars, pending UFAs, payroll trimming. This is a year that being okay probably isn't going to get you a playoff spot in the AL, and the AL East is under threat from at least two other teams. This could get ugly in NY..

True, but I think Yankee fans see what the plan is and most are tired of the near past. With the added wild card a lot of teams will be in it for a long time.

I think the Yankees need a re-organization, and to be frank that goes without saying. They won't be relevant on the field for very long if they stand pat with what they have.

Having said that, wouldn't it have been better to simply start over now? And have control over your rebuild, rather than be forced into it? Next winter's free agent pool isn't very shiny.

Actually, this is the guy who I have been hoping they would go after from the get go. IMO he is the only guy worth getting where you may not need to necessarily overspend to get. But then again what the hell do I know.
