College basketball catching fire in Michigan

08:02 AM ET 12.17 | Since his arrival at Michigan, John Beilein has transformed the program from one that was playing in front of a few thousand fans to one of the best teams in the country -- thanks in part to star power (All-America candidate Trey Burke) and highly regarded recruits (Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III). And he has a legitimate chance to make a Final Four run. ... For the first time in a generation, college basketball seems to have a real opening in the sporting consciousness in the state of Michigan. Consider: no pro hockey, no high-level football (this is a joke, sort of), a rebuilding professional basketball team, no high-profile bowls -- at least for U-M and Michigan State. Also consider: Spartans coach Tom Izzo built one of the best programs in the country.

Meh....Michigan isn't that good. Lowly old Arky was within a point @ Mich with less than 6 mins to play. They are @ 3rd best of teams I've seen on Arky's schedule this year.
