11:08 AM ET 12.17 | The Washington Redskins went on the road and got a 38-21 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. For the first time this season, rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III did not play. Griffin was not even active as the team held him out of action to rest his sprained right knee. After the game Griffin said: "Players play, so I was not happy with the decision," Griffin said flatly. "But at the end of the day, that's the decision they went with. I respect that, but it doesn't mean I necessarily have to like it."

Why would he "like" it? He's a competitor. I think it was the right decision and it appears he'll be back next week probably. Would he like it if he tore an ACL and was out until next year?

Agreed. That's what the doctors are for. Strasburg didn't like being shut down during the season either. It's all about being a competitor, but also the franchise HAS to protect its investments... And I'm sure RGIII knows this, better than me.

Young athletes often don't know what's best for their future career.
Running QBs in the NFL have a short lifespan. Let's hope RBIII lasts longer than most.
He is an exciting talent.

All athletes, especially young ones, think they are invincible. That's why you need good coaches. The Skins made a wise decision: they let their starter heal and they gave their backup valuable game experience as they make their playoff run. Gotta tip my hat to the Skins - they've turned it completely around in less than a year. But then, it seems, so have my Giants.

Any competitor does not like being on the sidelines rookie or vet because of an injury. Shannahan played the odds and won with it. Washington beat the Browns. Letting RGIII heal for the playoffs was the right move. They have an important set of games coming up and have a chance to clinch their division now. RGIII will be back and possibly with the NFC East Division Championship at the end of this.

Have to agree, Cousins got so much valuable experience that might be needed if III goes down again, with a come from behind victory and this start.

So, do we keep Cousins or trade him for a bunch of good draft picks?

RGIII is going to get hurt again, and you'll want Cousins around to fill in. Plus, although Cousins' value has increased, it wasn't enough to get any real value for him... yet.

Keep him I say, too many running QBs just don't last long, III already gets a knee injury, when I saw it I thought it was busted.

Keep him for at least one more year and see if RGIII can learn to play safer.

He could have said it a bit more diplomatically, something like "I'm a competitor, and I like to play, but this was the coaches' decision. I think Kirk and every other Redskin did a terrific job out there and played a great game. I should be back to full strength next week and I plan to be on the field."

A professional football player. Making tens of millions of dollars. He isn't happy? Aw, poor baby. Maybe he should quit and work flipping burgers at McDonald's for the rest of his life. RGDiva, here we go.

As for RG, the coaches should make a deal with him, you learn to slide and or get out of bounds, we will draft some O-Line help and see how it works out
