Stafford's job is safe

04:30 PM ET 12.17 | Matthew Stafford looked awful in Week 15, completing just 24 of 50 passes for 246 yards and three interceptions against the Cardinals. Despite his woes, Jim Schwartz did not consider benching Stafford at all. The Lions may be going through a rough patch/season, but Stafford's job isn't in jeopardy.

Expect a Christmas card from the Cards, Stafford.

Stafford threw for 5000 yards last season, he's earned some job security. What he needs is a coach who will sit him down and fix his mechanics.

Agreed. Besides, it's not like they've got anybody behind him that can play better.

That's funny cause last week they were claiming he could be the greatest QB of all-time.

If he threw for 5k yards, do they really need to "fix his mechanics ?

I actually like the kids mechanics, I dont like the fact he throws the ball more than anyone ever has in history numbers wise. And if anything needs to be tweaked in my opinion would be his decision making. He has that Favre 'my arm is super strong and i can squeeze this ball in there' complex at times.

I love the way he throws from all those different release points plus the way he gives all his big play guys a chance with pretty much every pass. Great touch on his short passes and trajectory on the deep ball. Mechanics are no issue here

What a difference one game makes....
Just last Friday, we saw a thread here with Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan saying Stafford was ready to become 'one of the game's all-time greats'....
And now, just three days later, we have a thread telling us that Stafford's job is safe.

Nothing wrong with Stafford that a little calm consistency wouldn't fix. If he has Scwartz as his coach for too much longer the virus might infect him permanently.

I think you're spot on. There is no leadership on that team from the coaches and Suh kind of epitomizes the lack of discipline on the other side of the ball. I'm hoping a change in the coacing staf from the top down will steady the ship again. Those guys are much, much better than their record shows this year.

His mechanics are just fine. He needs a coach who will fix the disfunctional elements on the team.

This team is not that far away. But without leadership they'll never get there. That starts at the head coach and they've had an immature thug as a head coach.

I would think that when you get your arse kicked by the Cardinals......no one in the organization is safe.
