Wake dismisses player over threat
Posted: Sunday January 27, 2008 09:41AM ET
A Wake Forest reserve running back has been dismissed from the team after writing on his Facebook page that he would "blow up campus." Campus police said 19-year-old Luke Caparelli posted the note on the social-networking page on Jan. 13. The note was written in third person and included a threat that Caparelli would have an Uzi submachine gun "locked and loaded in his bag." A detective's affidavit made public Thursday said police apparently didn't find any weapons when they searched Caparelli's bags and dorm room on Jan. 14. The affidavit said Caparelli acknowledged writing the statements but said he wouldn't do anything to harm anyone on campus or hurt the school.

Report Offensive CommentMr. Caparelli is befuddled. No one takes these proclamations seriously anyway- just idle fantasies of a normal, fun-loving college kid. You know, keg parties, pretty co-eds, scoring the winning, last-second TD, homicidal sprees....

Report Offensive CommentWe've seen so many of these things actually happen (which is amazing in itself) that this needs to be dealt with very seriously. Maybe we've got a lawyer here that can tell us what would be the max for making terroristic threats? Because this guy needs to be put away for bit.

Report Offensive Commentthis is just a cover up to take attention off the fact that wake's starting qb riley skinner sent a naked picture of himself to the wrong person over an email, and it got sent to the majority of the campus. wake stopped all email traffic to prevent the further disemination of the picture

Report Offensive Commentrustys, do you smoke crack on a regular basis, or was it just this weekend? Or is that just the moonshine talking?

Report Offensive Commenthmmmm local boy, i didn't know that speaking the truth was caused by smoking crack or drinking moonshine. maybe you should explain why i am wrong instead of making baseless comments like that

Report Offensive CommentEvidently I would have to use too many small words if you don't see the illogic of what you are saying. Okay, a QB ends up having a nudie spread all over campus by accident; what does that have to do with another kid making terroristic threats and getting canned from the program?? This is all a ruse and cover up to save embarrassment for the QB? Tell it to the kid who is probably being inteviewed by ATF, Homeland Security, the FBI and various local law enforecement agencies as we post.
localboy54 | 01/27/08, 05:52 PM
Report Offensive Commentfist of all no one can see the illogic, i can see that something is illogocal but u can't see illogic. secondly, i am not implying that wake planted evidence and have made false allegations against Luke Caparelli , however, what i am saying is that they are over-publacizing something that this kid posted a few days ago and are just recently making this information public in an effort to cover up the indiscretions of its qb.
fact: Luke Caparelli posted this note on the 13th
fact: skinner sent the picture on the 24th
fact: local boy is a moron
does it or does it not seem fishy that wake is making such a big deal about an ultimatly innocuous threat by a walk on football player a week an a half after it happened and right after thier star qb acted so foolishly.

Report Offensive CommentThanks for the grammar lesson. Now, go read a book.
Fact: The kid made terroristic threats.
Fact: Rustys can actually spell moron. I'm impressed for a Tennessee boy.
Fact: Rusty regularly confuses fact for innuendo and opinion.
Fact: Rusty confuses a program doing damage control for naked photos with a kid who has theatened the school with bombs and machine guns.
Fact: While maybe not a complete moron, Rusty is at least a little slow.

Report Offensive Commentwell actually local boy everything that i said was fact was niether opinion nor was it innudendo dates are not opinions they are indeed facts and your lack of intellegence is likewise a fact, however, i am just sayng that the very late timing of this story coupled with the fact that this is 1 an unimportant player, and 2 a nonstory considering that the kid didn't have any bombs or weapons, leads me to believe that wake is trying to take the attention off skinner and place it solely on Caparelli. also who cares if &%#$@! agrees with you, he is one of the most foolish people on this site
rustyshackleferd | 01/27/08, 06:37 PM
Report Offensive Commentyes you are foolish, i never said this article had anything to do with the qb, the fact that you think i did only proves that you are in fact, foolish, however, what i did say was that wake was trying to cover up the stupidity of its qb. so far i have seen no one make a serious or thoughtful argument against my origional statement. what i have seen is a group of psuedo einstiens tell me that the article doesn't mention the qb, or that the kid made a terrist threat. thanks for sharing i didn't realize. also &%#$@! mental mentality is a little redundant, however since i am a midget and you are obviously a giant i figure that you would know that.
rustyshackleferd | 01/27/08, 07:13 PM
Report Offensive Commentagain, i never said that i believed that wake fabricated this story, like i said before, this kid did in fact post the threat, however, i do believe that the university is just now making this story public in order to deflect attention from thier qb. this kid had nothing on him and he told authorities that he did not plan on harming anyone, he just posted it. this was a non story, however, wake is now making it a story to cover up skinners faux pas. so listen dope my thought process is 100% logical, and not a bit insane, you however, shouldn't interject yourself into others' conversation without first reading the full conversation, because if you do u force people to repeat what they have already explained, thus making you look, dare i say it, foolish.
