Thunder ready for the playoffs

08:08 AM ET 12.18 | Unfortunately for the Thunder, more than 100 days separate them from the playoffs. And in case you were wondering, it's going to feel like a long wait. That much was clear Monday night at The Peake. The Spurs came to town to face the Thunder, and it was close to a playoff atmosphere as we've seen so far this season. It made you long for postseason basketball. Thunder 107, Spurs 93. It was grand. ... Of course, a December win does not a playoff series win. This game will mean nothing if these two teams meet in the playoffs. But on Monday night with The Peake rocking and the Thunder humming and the Spurs visiting, it was fun to imagine these teams could meet again in the playoffs. Too bad the playoffs don't even start until April 20.

For sure the Thunder will beat the Spurs in the playoff if we are talking about a 7 game series, the teams that the Thunder should be worry about are the Clippers and the Grizzlies. Those teams can run with them

Good morning FN. It was a good win last night. Serge Ibaka had a nice game with 25 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks. He couldn't miss in the first half. OKC's defense against the SA was outstanding at times and really disrupted the flow of offense of the SA Spurs. So much so that Pop got T-d up for arguing with the refs...and for a minute I thought he was going to get a second T and thrown out of the game. The Spurs always give OKC a good game, and last night was no different. OKC is playing great team basketball right now and that is why they won last night. Excellent job OKC!

Nice game? Man that's a superstar game, lol.Nice win by the Thunder. They caused Pop to have a meltdown and almost get himself ejected. I like the way they are playing this year. With more of a purpose. Last year they fell behind a lot and then came from behind to win. This year they are playing the whole game like it matters. They are going to be tough for teams to beat in the playoffs.

I was trying to temper my excitement...lol Good morning MMA.

Howdy Mr. Flaney!Man Ibaka is really developing into something special. OKC may end up with 3 superstars after all. It's like a star factory there. What other team can ever say they have 3 Olympians starting?

True...very true. I think OKC is coming of age and really set up for the long run. KD, Westbrook and Ibaka are signed through the 2015-2016 season...could be a long few years for the Western Conference if these guys stay healthy and playing at this high level.

The west is stacked but the top 4 teams will be a tough out for any team. Thunder could win their first title this year. Thunder has been moving up step by step every year. From not making it to the playoffs and all the way to the championship.

Yep they have made serious incremental progress ever since about 3 or 4 seasons ago. If that trend holds true they should win this year. However, I think we both know that things seldom run that linearly. They would still be my pick for this year.

It's very possible that Miami has improved a lot also. Once they play their way back into form they have 2 very solid 3 point shooters in the line up now. That's really going to stretch the floor for other teams.

I agree with you MMA. I am just waiting for them to hit a stride.
