08:29 AM ET 12.18 | If it were up to him, Steven Stamkos would be playing NHL hockey. Instead, players have had to keep busy playing mainly with beer leaguers, including Stamkos joining his father, Chris, in his Thursday night games near his hometown of Markham, Ont. The two time Rocket Richard Trophy winner admitted he has had to take it easy on the old-timers. "There's a couple times when I've had to take a little mustard off the shot," Stamkos said, adding that former teammate Steve Downie and Leafs alum Dan Daoust play in their games. "But it's great for my Dad and his buddies. A lot of them haven't had the chance to skate with NHL players before. It's fun for me to get out there and skate with those guys as well."

Nice of him to let the gumper see the puck instead of just hearing it...

DL...why do you have to be that way?
Is it because in a few years that area will have a NHL franchise and Toronto will then want one too?

But that's just because the puck got too close to your hot dog. :-)

I wonder how many e-mails it would take to get Stammer to suit up with my beer league team...what we lack in talent we make up in heart...and beer drinking...

Amen, Bishop. Isn't that what the game is supposed to be about? Recently I attended a Special Olympics Basketball game in one of our schools. I can't remember when was the last time I've had so much fun with my boots on. That game was something special! I walked away thinking to myself, "The hell with the overpaid, crying, whining, pampered prima donas!"

I'm having a fine time. Lots of sports and other interests to keep me busy and happy. I will get along just fine if the season is lost.
Nobody expects…

Exactly Bishop, it's a rare find, to see a pro jump into a beer league game with the old man, bully for him, I say!

The Jays have pretty much made everybody forget that the Leafs should be in 10th right now here. Really, a lot of us want hockey so there's something to talk about, but nobody is really MISSING hockey at the moment.

As am I, I have many video games, and other sports to occupy me... Although they tell me I have to stop with the video games, as they might make me crazy...
Unfortunately, they missed that boat many years ago.
