Gasol says D'Antoni's system is "tough at times"

07:22 PM ET 12.19 | Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol returned Tuesday after missing eight games with tendonitis, and he didn't quite look like himself in a one-point win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Gasol also sat in the game's final seconds because coach Mike D'Antoni wanted to play small around Dwight Howard. It was that issue that convinced Gasol to speak out in an interview with USA Today. "I don't find (playing with Howard) tough," Gasol said. "It's more the system right now that makes it tough at times, because (D'Antoni) wants four guys to be spread and one interior guy and it's a guard-oriented system, so that makes it tough."

It's a work in progress. Gotta give it until the end of January at least. Patience.

The Lakers were stupid in trading for Howard...dumber for getting rid of Mike Brown and even more idiotic when they passed on Phil Jackson for Mike D'Antoni.

This team is not built to suit his style...which is ball handling guards, pick and roll offense with no defense.

LA will not make the playoffs this year, especially if Pau keeps being used at the top of the key.

If I am Gasol, I am begging these guys to trade me to another team because this situation in LA is a complete mess.

$100 million dollar payroll, $4 million to an ex coach, $4 million to a coach who sucks currently and a $30 million tax hit coming.

Fun days for Lakers fans.
