08:04 AM ET 12.20 | So long, Sanchise and Tebowmania? In addition to likely parting ways with Tim Tebow in the offseason, the New York Jets are mulling whether to eat more than $8 million in order to cut or trade fellow quarterback Mark Sanchez, according to two sources familiar with the circumstances. The team's obvious preference is to get something for Tebow through a trade, but that may be difficult considering how little he has played and the fact that he has now been bypassed by third-stringer Greg McElroy, who will start for New York (6-8) this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. "You'd think that they'd want to showcase [Tebow] just a little if they want to deal him," one of the sources said. "Do something to increase his value."

2 fer 1 deal, Sanchez and Tebow for your teams waterboy or mascot.

December 20, 2012  08:10 AM ET

Would that be like a 2 fer 1 deal, Tebow and Sanchez for either your teams waterboy or mascot.

.......and then pursueing Michael Vick, don't know if thats a step in the right direction or not.... or more like stumbling backwards.

Keep McElroy and trade for Trent Edwards. He's #2 in Philly now so he's obviously on the rise.

Pursuing Mike Vick will depend on what the coach and GM decide is in the best interest of the team. Right now it's a safe bet that at least one of them will get fired after the season ends.

Tebow and Sanchez for Alex Smith straight up. Harbaugh likes running QBs, Sanchez likes the West Coast and Alex Smith would definitely be a step up for the Jets.

I'm no Tebow fan but how can you release the guy before you ever give him a shot?

We knew this already. The Jets have no other choice, only problem is Sanchez is due $8 million next year all guaranteed.

Vick

I can see why Ryan likes him - Vick has a career completion %age of 56%, rating of 80.7, 81 ints, 85 fumbles to 156 TDs (pass and run). So he is like an older more fragile Sanchez.

Speaking for most jet fans......If either of these 2 are on the roster next year, I can guarantee that there will be more empty seats in met life than in jacksonvilleWe gave Sanchez plenty of chances.... its overAnd tebow is a failed experiment....move onMcelroy, likely isn't the answer, but we CANNOT bring mark and Tim back

Jets will need to rework Sanchez contract, make at least half of the 8 million due next year bonus money and then try to trade him with a 4 million cap number to another team. That could work. He is unsigned after 2013.

December 20, 2012  08:47 AM ET

They can have Kirk Cousins for next year's #2 pick and 2014 4th round pick....

Nah... Nevermind... We're keeping him! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Usually the problem is to find a way to keep a guy, to make room for him money wise. The Jets are spending their time trying to find a way to get rid of two guys. Makes you think whoever made those decisions (Sanchez contract) (Tebow trade) should be kicked to the curb. Unless that someone was Woody.

Even though the 'Skins will probably get some very good offers for Cousins, they need to keep him as I would continue to expect RG3 to get injuries if they keep him running a lot.

Why would San Fran trade a starter quality QB for two bad ones ?

I don't expect The R to get injured too often. He learns from his mistakes, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't like sitting on the bench while Cousins produces. But still... Yes... He's GREAT Insurance, especially if we go to the p.. p.... Playoffs ? Playoffs ?? PLAYOFFS!!!

YES!!!! HAIL!!!
