Cubs closing on Villanueva, chasing Jackson

Jackson will give up a bazillioon dingers pitching in Wrigley Field.

I guess Jackson is now plan C. Theo is desperate to come away with someone with the market dried up. Here, take this bucket of cash

wiseup: Cubs have no where to go but up. compared to the pitching they through out there last year Jacksopn would be an upgrade. If jackson would settle for 2 or 3 years would be more suited for Cubs. The Cubs might look at signing Cody Ross. Again would be an upgrade on who the Cubs played in outfield last year.

Villanueva is just a depth player. If you are banking your season on signing him, it may be a LONG season.

wiseup: Cubs might also look at maybe signing Bourne. Not a super star, but definitely an upgrade in outfield.

jackson would likely be signed by the cubs,,4 years 52 millions another overpaid guy after all teams never learn from past mistakes!!!

villanueva its a new pitcher in the majors, plus has very little positive stats, the guarantee numbers could be at lost!!!!!

jackson could be lights out in the cubs rotation, after he get signed by the cubs,the pitcher would likely stay in the DL most of the season!!!

likely not a smart move by the cubs,,should the cubs had been using minor league pitchers unstead signing free agents?? it seems the opposite thing in chicago,,,

cubs would likely be the worse team next season,,, can't see any positive roster in this franchise,,,too dark and cloudy future!!

I like Jackson better than Sanchez, especially at the money each is getting.

Cubs filling up roster spots with very average players. But in the case of Jackson, it may be for 4 or 5 years! I guess he might be okay as a #3 or #4 starter, if you have a couple of studs at 1 and 2.

It will be interesting to see what Jackson signs for. Will he get something like a 4 year, $52M contract for being a pitcher who can throw 200 innings and get you 10-12 wins?

Well.....that's what he signed for......and he'll get about 10-12 wins a year with an ERA above 4.00.

from jackson and sanchez??better durability in sanchez and injuried free for sure, should jackson had signed for much less? sure the cubs over paid this guy without a question,,

How did you arrive at this? Not a single one of them ranked in the top 45 in ERA in the Majors last year. Garza is a very weak #1. Villanueva is at best a spot starter.
