08:19 AM ET 12.20 | Consider the competition to replace Matt Scott underway. Former USC quarterback Jesse Scroggins, who committed to Arizona more than two weeks ago, signed his national letter of intent Wednesday, the first day a mid-year transfer is allowed to make it official with his new school. Scroggins spent two seasons at USC before transferring to El Camino Junior College in Torrance, Calif., last summer. "He's a talented guy," Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said of Scroggins. "He's probably a little hungry to go out and prove himself. We're trying to create competition at every position, and he'll certainly bring that." Scroggins (6-feet-3, 210 pounds) has been praised for his arm strength.

It seems to me that Scroggins found himself behind others on the USCw depth chart and transfered to get playing time. This path has been followed many times before and will be again and again.

another one of those 5 star flame outs.

Good point, but when a team has 4/5, 5 star QB's, then what do you do????

QB appears to be the biggest position of transfers in football.... is it an ego thing?

After being Mr Football at the HS level and the toast of your local town, its hard to accept that your just a guy in the real world.

In TX, being the HS QB is equal to the crown prince

Part of it is ego... Its the $$$$ position..Part of it is, if you have a great QB..not a good thing to rotate them in and out like a RB....So its best to transfer if you want PT...

I totally agree, IMO QBs, RBs and WRs are the money positions in the NFL.

NFL has transformed into a QB/Passing League w/ all the rules

And Peyton's antics before the snap make him the Fred Astaire of NFL QBs.
