Butch Jones' job easier than Derek Dooley's?

Blame the incoming coach after a couple of years? WTF?
Give a new coach who inherits a bare cupboard at least three years to recruit his team, and maybe post a winning record. Not a BCS record, just a winning record and a minor bowl appearance.
Dooley must have had some other issues to cause his firing. He didn't inherit much and shouldn't have been expected to produce much.
It Tennessee does the same thing to the next coach in line it may have to ask itself what is going on here?

Dooley was incompetent running the program according to reports. Had terrible relationships with high school coaches and recruits, was arrogant with staff and never interacted with fans.

Jones has already done more in 2 weeks to connect with fans than Dooley did the 3 years he was there.

Sweet baby Tebow me too. It's gonna take a few years though. Doesn't help that UTk plays Oregon, then a home and home with Oklahoma over the next 3 years. But to be the best, you have to beat the best.

This. Jones has proven he can assemble and keep a staff, coach and motivate players, and recruit. I hope that UTK's PTB give him 5 years to compete at the highest level of the SEC.

Perception is reality.

Tennessee has not been good for a few years now . . . expectations for a quick turnaround have to be lower.

I agree but UT is a good school to go to they should not have any problems recruiting they,ll be back shortly...
