08:14 AM ET 12.21 | According to Rodney Garner, his leaving Georgia for Auburn had more to do with returning to his alma mater than just about anything else. [Garner's] departure comes at a complicated time for Georgia. The Bulldogs are in the midst of recruiting their biggest class of the restricted-scholarship era -- around 35 in all -- and obviously Garner is the hub of that effort. Best known for attracting great defensive linemen to come play for him, Georgia has been considered a leader for junior college all-star Toby Johnson and 5-star defensive tackle Montravious Adams of Dooly County. Both signings could now be in jeopardy. "I'm kind of surprised, but it helps Auburn," Adams told 247Sports. "We have a great relationship. He's a great guy."

So UGaly's recruiting class yesterday was touted as going to be #1 in the nation, and now is in deep doodoo?
Can we also say CMR is back on the hot seat too? Please? ;-)

Yes. There's a 15-year old (BD 12/7) who has qualified for entry to Tennessee. Though he'd long since completed or tested out of the coursework, he was allowed to play football with a middle school team in 2011. In 2012, he was back-up QB for the local high school team. When the starter was injured in October, he entered the game in the second quarter and threw for 312 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs. He finished out the season with 1687 yards, 23 TDs, and no INTs. He wants to begin classes at UTK in January and has petitioned to walk on to the Vols. Besides his age, issues include his current height (5'11&1/2") and weight (158 lbs). Jones and his staff have remained silent about the lad.

This could hurt our chances with the DTs we're recruiting but that's about it.....and foster too bc he's looking for a reason to use that tatoo. Grantham and Bobo are UGA's best recruiters tho.

Rodney Garner is a Georgia boy - born, reared & HS ball. He played his college ball at Auburn. At one time, he was Tennessee's recruiting champion, stealing Georgia prospects north to Tennessee, depriving schools in Georgia, Alabama, and SC. Richt wearied of his success against the pull of the Bulldogs and threw then unheard of sums at Garner to get him to come to UGA. Garner has paid dividends to Richt and the Dawgs ever since. Now, he's off to join Gus on the Alabama plains.

The thing is, Georgia HS ball produces prodigious numbers of high quality recruits. UGA will get theirs, even as schools from neighboring states siphon off who they can. Predicting doom for Richt and the Dawgs is folly.

Jones and his staff need to make these boys a 2014 priority. But I think their hands are full at the moment trying to do some quick 2013 recruiting magic.

Your right, Josh Holsey are friends with the twins, from same High School.
Auburn is lucky to have Rodney Garner on the coaching staff.

Dooley did his best to ruin that advantage, along with trying to ruin the entire foosball program.
With Trooper gone from Aubie that helps UTk though.

A single player is the "hub" of an entire recruiting class? What a bunch of BS!! We are not lemmings!!!
I've been seeing this more and more in the media ... and from fans too. Longhorn message boards are full of this kind of BS.
