08:18 AM ET 12.21 | Even before the tournament begins, Team USA has offered some bulletin board material. The Canadians have six returning players plus Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Russians are at home and have captain Nail Yakupov leading them. The Swedes are the defending champions. So, Seth Jones, where does your team fit in? "Right in there. I think we're the best team," the American defenceman said on Thursday. "We have a lot of speed up front, we're great defensively and we have good goaltending so I think we have all the pieces to win the gold medal." Considering Team USA failed to get past the round-robin stage last year and has only three returning players (forward J.T. Miller, defenceman Jacob Trouba and goalie John Gibson) that may be considered a bold statement.

Be bold or go home!!!

That should be the new motto of Team USA.

Canadians seem to have some manner of humility, probably from living next door to the loud neighbours

My exwife was American so this topic used to come up every now and again (usually when we were around my brother-in-laws) and the best quote I ever heard was...

A Canadian with enter your home and act like a guest.

An American comes in and acts like he owns the joint.

:-)

I think our loonie is still buried underneath some Olympic ice somewhere down there...

You should stay off of twitter, because all you hear is Canadian bragging there. People are loudmouths no matter what country they are from, don't be fooled. Only reason you hear it more here, is because you are here.

And this really is some bulletin board material. Him saying I think we have the pieces to win gold. Man that is some hard hitting stuff. Man, a player who thinks his team can win. This is some earth shattering stuff. Next thing you are going to tell me is he wants to win too. Probably put this on the front of TSN to rile up there fellow countrymen.

Exactly.

If you don't think you should win, then you shouldn't be there, unless you're Germany, Kazakhstan, Belarus, etc...
