Season on the brink

08:20 AM ET 12.21 | We haven't known for months which way the lockout will go, though on Thursday the NHL cut another round of games. At least we'll know soon. The NHL canceled the schedule through Jan. 14, and that means the NHL and the NHL Players' Association now face a soft deadline for the cancellation of the 2012-13 -- oops, the 2013 -- season. Commissioner Gary Bettman has said he "can't imagine wanting to play fewer" than 48 games, as the NHL did during the 1994-95 -- oops, the 1995 -- season when it dropped the puck in January. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly has said this needs to end around mid-January. So there you go. If you believe Bettman and Daly, we're not at the brink yet, but we can see it from here.

I'm convinced that this was the year man. This was the one they were gonna win the damn Cup. THIS WAS IT!

Careful Danny, obviously somebody spiked the eggnog.

Its actually quite humorous if you think about this. They aren't even locking the players out for money anymore. There literally might not be a season, and it's not even about getting more money to the owners, they got the money they wanted.

Damn I overslept the end of the world, now what do I do? And the NHL is still pissing away the season.

So now it's just a pissing contest. How dumb is that?

Maybe they were hoping the world would end today & this would all be a moot point.

'we're not at the brink yet, but we can see it from here'.

What's better, a view of the brink, or a view of Russia from your front porch?

and considering the 2 lead knuckleheads in this story, exactly why would anyone be surprised?
You have 2 guys here that probably between them have more wedgies and lunch money taken from them than we could even imagine, and this is why they do things the way they do.
