Hurricanes deep in young QBs

Posted: Sunday January 27, 2008 10:02AM ET

Miami coach Randy Shannon made sure he would be deep in scholarship quarterbacks for 2008, with Cannon Smith and Jacory Harris enrolling this semester to be at spring practice. Taylor Cook will graduate this spring. The fourth, Robert Marve, will be a redshirt freshman with a one-year advantage over the others. It is highly unusual for a major college football program to have every scholarship quarterback a freshman or redshirt freshman.

It's Not!

Just because they are deep, does not mean they are any good. They have to be coached as well.

all these QBs have great potential, marve and harris are obviously the favorites both had great success in high school and look to have promising careers in college. But Taylor Cook is sort of a dark horse he has great size and amazing athleticism, but his speed and mobility set him apart also his toughness is a great addition to miami making him a possibility at QB and it that doesn???t work out maybe even tight end. He also played defensive in high school and laid the wood to some very good players???.something you don???t usually see from tall skinny QBs. Cannon smith is also a little unknown but while he may be short he has a great arm and could catch everyone by surprise.

I saw Marve play in high school, I think he'll be an exceptional college QB with the right guidance. Just wish he'd gone to Florida State...oh well.

eyesWIDE.....he still might....think about it....if he doesnt get his shot there he will have to go to State to get that chance

Some can shift to other positions. However, I'm sure one of these guys will transfer out after next season.

Like Miami would release him out of his scholarship to attend Florida State?

Not likely, guys.
